Energy Studies Institute

The Energy Studies Institute (ESI) at the National University of Singapore conducts independent research and analysis to advance the understanding of energy policy issues. We are seeking researchers to join a multi-disciplinary team carrying out research projects on a range of energy issues relevant to Singapore and the region.

Job Description

  • Conduct technical and policy reviews of the global energy and decarbonization landscape through desk research, including low-carbon technology development and green energy supply chains.
  • Carry out energy, environmental and system-level decarbonization analysis, including energy technology assessment, emissions monitoring, decarbonization pathways and energy systems optimization for the country and Asian region.
  • Participate in engagements with stakeholders.
  • Perform administrative duties, including organising seminars, workshops, and conferences, and undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Division or Principal Investigator.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree in engineering, science, economics, management science or other related disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of and interest in energy and environmental issues, decarbonisation strategies, and energy security.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis tools such as Python, Matlab, Stata, etc.
  • Demonstrated research experience in life cycle assessment, emissions accounting or energy systems modelling would be highly preferred.
  • Relevant experience in energy markets, techno-economic analysis or power sector modelling would be an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
