QP (Qualified Person) / Civil or Structural Engineer

Senior QP / Civil Engineer – Design, Drawings, Material Calculation & Project Management

We are looking for a highly experienced QP / Civil Engineer with strong technical and practical knowledge in construction. The ideal candidate should be able to understand and review drawings, perform engineering and material calculations, coordinate design works, and manage technical and cost-related aspects of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, understand, and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and M&E drawings.
• Check drawings for discrepancies, constructability issues, and coordination requirements.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations and technical submissions.
• Perform material quantity calculations and take-offs from drawings.
• Calculate required quantities of concrete, reinforcement steel, structural materials, finishes, and other construction materials.
• Assist with design development, design coordination, and technical solutions.
• Review structural and civil details and provide practical construction solutions.
• Prepare and review BOQ, cost estimates, material schedules, and project budgets.
• Review subcontractor and supplier quotations and compare costs.
• Monitor material usage, project costs, variations, and potential cost overruns.
• Review and manage variation orders and additional works.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant authorities.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure construction work follows approved drawings and specifications.
• Resolve technical problems encountered during construction.
• Provide guidance to site teams and ensure work is carried out according to drawings, specifications, and approved methods.
• Assist in planning, scheduling, procurement, and overall project coordination.
• Ensure proper documentation of drawings, calculations, submissions, approvals, and project records.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with strong hands-on construction experience, not only theoretical knowledge.

• Strong ability to read and understand construction drawings.
• Excellent understanding of material calculations and quantity take-offs.
• Experience in design and engineering calculations.
• Good knowledge of construction methods, materials, and site practices.
• Experience with BOQ, costing, budgeting, and cost control.
• Ability to identify drawing discrepancies and propose practical solutions.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Strong knowledge of relevant building regulations, standards, and authority requirements.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for technical decisions.
