Position Purpose:
The accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, managing full-set accounting and supporting month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, tax compliance, audit and other finance activities. The role works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure effective financial controls, compliance and reporting across the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage full-set accounting, including general ledger, AP/AR, accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare financial statements, management reports and key account reconciliations.
2. Tax, Audit & Compliance
- Manage GST reporting, tax compliance and statutory requirements in accordance with Singapore regulations.
- Coordinate statutory and internal audits, including preparation of audit schedules and resolution of queries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies and financial controls.
3. Budgeting, Cash Flow & Financial Management
- Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Monitor financial performance, working capital and cash flow, and analyse material variances.
- Support treasury and other financial management activities as required.
4. Group & Business Support
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and support group reporting and consolidation requirements.
- Partner with internal stakeholders on accounting, reporting and finance-related matters.
- Support improvements to accounting processes, controls and reporting efficiency.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in full-set accounting, month-end/year-end closing and financial reporting.
- Good knowledge of GST, tax compliance, bank and intercompany reconciliations and audit requirements.
- Experience in budgeting, cash flow management and financial analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to investigate and resolve accounting issues independently.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple reporting deadlines effectively.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting group consolidation and multi-entity accounting.
- Experience in a trading, petrochemical, manufacturing or other commercial environment.
- Familiarity with Singapore accounting and tax requirements.
