About this job
As a Smart Building Solutions & Innovation Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for envisioning, architecting, designing and implementing next-generation Smart Building solutions across the Group properties and customer environments.
You will work across the full innovation and engineering lifecycle — from discovering new use cases, evaluating emerging technologies and developing proof-of-concepts, to solution architecture, design, system integration, implementation and continuous optimisation.
Working with business teams, technology partners, start-ups, vendors and customers, you will have opportunities to work with technologies such as IoT, AI, data analytics, automation, digital twins, smart workplace, sustainability and intelligent building systems.
This role is for someone who is curious about technology, enjoys solving real-world problems and wants to see their ideas progress from concept → prototype → deployment → scale.

Discover and Innovate
- Explore emerging technologies and industry trends across Smart Buildings, IoT, AI, automation, sustainability and intelligent infrastructure.
- Identify and develop new use cases that improve building intelligence, operational efficiency, sustainability, safety and user experience.
Participate in ideation, technology evaluation, experimentation, proof-of-concepts and innovation trials.
Collaborate with internal teams, technology partners, start-ups and customers to co-create new Smart Building solutions.
Evaluate successful innovations and identify opportunities to scale and replicate them across the Group properties and customer environments.
- Architect and Design
Translate business challenges, user requirements and innovative concepts into practical technical solutions.
Support the development of Smart Building solution architecture, system design, integration architecture, technical specifications and implementation plans.
Design how IoT devices, sensors, networks, building systems, applications, data platforms, cloud/edge technologies and AI capabilities work together as an integrated ecosystem.
Evaluate different technologies and solution options based on functionality, scalability, interoperability, cybersecurity, reliability, maintainability and user experience.
Develop architecture diagrams, technical documentation, system integration requirements and engineering deliverables.
- Experiment, Validate & Scale
Take solutions from concept and design into real-world implementation.
Work with vendors, system integrators, contractors and internal technology teams throughout installation, configuration, integration, testing, commissioning and handover.
Coordinate technical activities across multiple technology domains and vendors to ensure individual systems operate as an integrated Smart Building solution.
Participate in site implementation, testing and troubleshooting across Singtel and customer environments.
Identify technical risks and issues and work collaboratively with relevant parties to drive them towards resolution.
- Operate & Continuously Improve
Support the technical health and performance of Smart Building solutions deployed within Singtel environments.
Troubleshoot complex issues across IoT, networks, applications, APIs, building systems and integrated platforms.
Work with technology partners and vendors to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, automation and user experience.
Maintain relevant architecture, configuration, technical and operational documentation.
- Showcase and Engage
Support Smart Building demonstrations, workshops, customer engagements and technology showcases.
Ensure experience environments, including the Smart Building Show Suite, are technically ready for customer and stakeholder engagements.
Help translate complex technical solutions into compelling demonstrations and use cases that customers can easily understand.
Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to understand their challenges and explore how Smart Building technologies can address them.
- Bring feedback and insights from customer engagements back into the team's innovation and solution roadmap.
Education and Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Building Services Engineering or a related engineering/technology discipline.
Basic knowledge or hands-on exposure in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
IoT devices, sensors and gateways
IP networking and connectivity
Cloud and edge computing
APIs and system integration
Building Management Systems (BMS) and building automation
Data platforms, analytics and visualisation
AI, computer vision or intelligent automation
Digital twins
Audio-visual and digital experience technologies
Basic scripting, programming or low-code development
