Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Team Lead, Credit Administration & Control to oversee credit administration processes, ensuring strong operational controls, regulatory compliance, and accurate execution of credit-related activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in reviewing credit documentation, monitoring covenant compliance, managing operational risks, and driving process improvements across wholesale lending operations.
This role requires strong knowledge of credit administration, loan documentation, risk controls, and regulatory requirements within a banking environment. The candidate will work closely with Relationship Managers, Credit teams, Middle Office, Operations teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective credit governance and timely resolution of exceptions.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Administration & Control
- Lead and oversee daily credit administration activities, ensuring accurate and timely completion of credit documentation reviews, covenant monitoring, and control processes.
- Perform independent verification of credit conditions, covenants, milestones, and security requirements against approved credit applications, facility agreements, and supporting documentation.
- Review loan documentation, including facility agreements, letters of offer, and credit approval conditions, ensuring alignment with approved credit terms.
- Monitor outstanding credit conditions, covenant breaches, and exceptions, ensuring timely escalation and remediation.
- Maintain strong operational controls to minimise credit administration risks and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to banking policies, procedures, operational controls, and audit requirements.
- Support regulatory and internal audits by providing documentation, process evidence, and remediation tracking.
- Identify operational risks and control gaps within credit administration processes and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with banking secrecy requirements, data governance standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Support implementation of risk and control initiatives to strengthen credit governance.
Team Leadership & Operations Management
- Lead and guide a team of credit administration professionals, ensuring effective execution of daily processes and service delivery.
- Review team performance, workload allocation, and operational priorities to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Coach team members on credit processes, control requirements, and quality standards.
- Partner with Team Heads and stakeholders to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and quality outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, workflow enhancements, and digital transformation initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Business Units, Credit Risk, Middle Office, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to resolve credit-related issues.
- Provide timely updates on overdue conditions, covenant breaches, documentation gaps, and operational exceptions.
- Support new credit processes, system enhancements, and operational change initiatives.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery while balancing operational efficiency and risk management requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in banking operations, credit administration, loan operations, or credit control functions.
- Strong experience in wholesale lending, corporate banking loans, credit documentation, covenant monitoring, and credit risk controls.
- Good understanding of loan products, facility structures, financial covenants, security requirements, and credit approval processes.
- Experience managing or leading a team within a banking operations environment.
- Strong knowledge of banking regulations, operational risk controls, and audit requirements.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as MAS Notice 637, MAS Notice 642, and relevant banking guidelines is advantageous.
- Experience supporting credit control reviews, regulatory reporting, and operational risk assessments is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review financial information, identify exceptions, and perform risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across business and operational teams.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced banking environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within a wholesale banking, corporate lending, or credit operations environment.
- Exposure to credit administration platforms, workflow systems, and banking operational tools.
- Knowledge of financial spreading, financial ratios, and credit analysis concepts.
- Experience driving process improvement, automation, or operational excellence initiatives.
