The Private Banking (PB) Head is responsible for leading the Team of Relationship Management (RM) Head, Relationship Managers (RMs), Associate Relationship Managers (ARMs) as well as Operations Officers involved in Private Banking transactions. He /She is tasked to drive business growth and the efficient delivery of positive customer experience at the Center. The role also ensures effective compliance and control measures to manage operational risks including those specified by regulations and applicable laws.

The Private Banking (PB) Head is also responsible to pursue new business opportunities by creating and implementing a comprehensive Private Banking strategy for the Center’s private banking customers. Similarly, he /she supports hiring and developing the right RM talent to achieve sales and foster a culture of integrity, customer orientation, and accountability.

The PB Head takes the lead for implementing business strategies in achieving the Wealth Center’s business targets/ KRA through the following:

  1. Strategic planning
  2. Business development
  3. Proactive oversight of the wealth team ensuring at least 100% sales achievement with all client relationships in adherence to MAS, SFA and FAA regulations, and other relevant laws.
  4. Delivery of excellent customer service through investment products and service offerings.
  5. Efficient handling of Private Banking operations.

Job Responsibilities:


A. Leading and Managing

  1. Provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the Private Banking Team fostering a high-performance culture.
  2. Leads Private Banking Team to deliver on their key performance targets.
  3. Communicates proactively company goals and business strategies.
  4. Fosters teamwork within the team and with cross-functional teams and deals with conflict quickly and fairly.
  5. Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators and make data-driven recommendations to optimize performance and profitability within the private banking segment.
  6. Puts measures in place to manage the RM talent pipeline from within.
  7. Promotes a strong compliance culture within the team, emphasizing adherence to regulations and applicable laws.
  8. Champions actively all Bank initiatives within the Team and the community it serves.

B. Strategy Development

  1. Develops and implements a comprehensive Private Banking strategy for private banking customers, including institutional, corporate and individual PIs, aligned with the Bank’s objectives and market trends in Singapore.
  2. Provides vision or direction for competitive sales and performance strategies, i.e. acquisition, cross-selling, market penetration and retention opportunities

C. Business Development

  1. Drives business growth by pursuing new business opportunities within the private banking segment, acquiring new clients, and expanding the Bank’s customer base.
  2. Keeps up-to-date on market trends, competitor activities and industry developments within the private banking segment while considering the regulatory environment.
  3. Supports new product launches and development /implementation of marketing programs
  4. Supports cost management measures in operating Wealth Team activities.
  5. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing and operations, to drive synergies and ensure seamless delivery of advisory services to clients.
  6. Oversees the provision of expert investment advice and guidance to private banking customers.
  7. Conducts comprehensive portfolio analysis and recommend suitable investment strategies and products within the framework of applicable regulations.
  8. Develops appropriate relationships and linkages within the assigned area to raise franchise profile and develop new business opportunities.

D. Customer Service Excellence

  1. Builds and maintains strong relationship with private banking customers by delivering personalized, high-quality advisory services.
  2. Drives delivery of positive customer experience by the wealth team.
  3. Takes responsibility for customer issues or complaints management of wealth clients, as escalated.
  4. Ensures appropriate escalation of issues to Head Office, as needed.
  5. Meets and calls on new or valued customers together with the Relationship Managers.

E. Staff and Talent Development

  1. Ensures program in place for the team’s new hires to be properly on-boarded.
  2. Drives continuous learning and high-performing team environment.
  3. Maintains network for candidate referral and conducts candidate interview for critical wealth roles.
  4. Monitors staff compliance with Bank’s policies and regulations.
  5. Supports any administrative investigation and implementation of any disciplinary measures involving his/her team members

F. Compliance and Control

  1. Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies within Private Banking function.
  2. Implements effective compliance and control measures to manage operational risks including those specified by MAS, SFA and FAA regulations, and other applicable laws and regulations governing the jurisdiction.
  3. Ensures excellent audit ratings are achieved.
  4. Maintains robust KYC standards per policy and local regulations.
  5. Conducts timely reporting of suspicious or unusual transactions as required.
  6. Ensures appropriate sales practices are maintained at all times emphasizing adherence to MAS, SFA, FAA and other relevant regulations.
  7. Performs other functions that may be assigned from time to time.

G. Stakeholder Management

  1. Fosters strong relationships with internal stakeholders, such as senior management to align Private Banking strategies with overall business objectives of the Bank.
  2. Communicates effectively with stakeholders regarding regulatory requirements.

Professional Certification & Licenses:

  • CACS certified CACS I and II
  • CMFAS certified: M1B, M5, M6, M6A, M8, M8A
