Job Description
The successful candidate will work with Asst Prof WEI Jiangbo on physiological functions of RNA modifications and RNA binding proteins under a project on "Circulating Cell-Free RNA modification (cfRNA-mod) for MASH Diagnosis/Monitoring".
The main responsibilities of the position include:
1. Establish the model system to study context-dependent crosstalk between epitranscriptome and epigenome in the lab.
2. Carry out biochemistry and cell biology-related experiments and bioinformatics work for associated omics.
3. Facilitate grant application.
4. Aid and support to junior PhD students in their research projects.
5. Lead a small group of PhD working on the physiological roles of RNA modifications and RBP in development.
6. Report duty to PI.
Qualifications / Discipline:
• The candidate should hold a PhD degree or have submitted PhD thesis, in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, or related disciplines.
Skills:
• Proficient in a wide range of bench techniques relevant to biochemistry, molecular biology, chemical biology, genetics, and cell biology.
• Skills include, but are not limited to: chemical synthesis, nucleic acid extraction and purification, molecular cloning, plasmid preparation, PCR and RT-qPCR, site-directed mutagenesis, restriction enzyme digestion, ligation, gel electrophoresis (agarose and SDS-PAGE), immunoblotting (Western blot), immunoprecipitation, ELISA, cell culture (bacterial, yeast, and mammalian), cell transfection and transduction, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, Sanger and next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, protein expression and purification, enzyme assays, and spectrophotometric analysis.
• Has extensive experience in model system that suitable to study the role of RNA modifications and RBPs in development.
Experience:
• Have published (or at least submitted) peer-reviewed papers as the first author in high-impact journals.
