About the opportunity

A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Legal Executive to take ownership of contracts management and support its legal and commercial operations. This position is suited to a seasoned contracts professional who can work independently and provide practical guidance to business stakeholders.

The role

You will manage the full contract lifecycle, from drafting and negotiation through execution, compliance, renewal and expiry. You will work closely with legal counsel and business teams to identify contractual risks, resolve issues and improve contracting processes.

Key responsibilities

* Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including service, supply, procurement, vendor, consultancy and confidentiality agreements.

* Manage contracts throughout their lifecycle, including approvals, execution, amendments, renewals and termination.

* Identify key legal and commercial risks and recommend practical solutions.

* Advise internal stakeholders on contractual terms, obligations and approval requirements.

* Monitor deliverables, renewal dates, notice periods and other key contractual milestones.

* Maintain contract registers, templates, trackers and document repositories.

* Support the management of contractual claims, variations, disputes and performance issues.

* Develop and improve contract templates, workflows, policies and internal controls.

* Coordinate with external counsel and other professional advisers where required.

* Provide guidance to junior team members and support internal contract-related training.

* Undertake legal research and assist with other legal, compliance and governance matters.

Requirements

* Diploma or Degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration or a related discipline.

* More than eight years of relevant experience in contracts management, contract administration or legal support.

* Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.

* Sound understanding of contract law principles and commercial risk allocation.

* Able to independently manage complex contracts and competing deadlines.

* Strong stakeholder-management and negotiation skills.

* Meticulous, commercially minded and solutions-oriented.

* Experience working in an in-house legal or commercial environment would be advantageous.

* Proficiency in contract management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
