Institutional Salestrader

Key Responsibilities:

• Track global financial news, market trends, sector developments, and price movements to provide clients with timely and relevant market insights.
• Deliver high-touch client service through daily market updates, research highlights, trade ideas, and actionable market colour.
• Execute trades across Asia-Pacific, both manually and via algorithms, while ensuring best execution and minimal trading errors.
• Understand market microstructure, liquidity conditions, trading protocols, and regulatory requirements across multiple exchanges.
• Maintain strong relationships with institutional clients by understanding their trading needs, execution preferences, and investment objectives.
• Develop customised execution solutions for clients, including agency execution, algorithmic trading, program trades, block trades, and other liquidity solutions.
• Source and execute block trade opportunities, while helping to expand client access to the firm’s equity products, liquidity network, and stock lending capabilities.
• Support equities product distribution in partnership with Sales, Research, and Equity Capital Markets.
• Assist in the distribution of ECM transactions, including IPOs, equity placements, rights issues, preferential offerings, and other capital market deals.
• Ensure trade execution quality and full compliance with internal policies, exchange rules, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Perform post-trade duties including trade booking, trade amendments, FX booking, allocation checks, and settlement follow-up where required.
• Work closely with Operations and Settlement teams to resolve trade-related issues and ensure smooth post-trade processing.
• Assist in onboarding new institutional clients, including coordination of documentation, trading setup, market access, platform configuration, and internal approvals.
• Contribute to desk revenue growth by supporting client coverage, improving execution service quality, and proactively sharing trading insights with clients and internal teams.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong interest in equities, financial markets, trading, and institutional client coverage.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise market colour to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, with a disciplined approach to trade execution, risk control, and compliance.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Knowledge and understanding of trading strategies, algorithm functions, and how to apply them in daily execution across different exchanges and markets.
• Experience in working careful discretionary orders, with good market feel and judgement when executing across different markets and liquidity conditions.
• Comfortable working with trading platforms, OMS/EMS systems, FIX connectivity, and algorithmic execution tools.
• Good understanding of regional market structure, execution channels, exchange rules, and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with post-trade processes including trade booking, amendments, FX booking, allocations, and settlement follow-up.
• AI literacy, including the ability to use AI tools responsibly to improve market monitoring, research summarisation, workflow efficiency, and client service.
