Principal Analyst, Compensation & Benefits

Job Summary

As a Principal Compensation & Benefits Analyst, you will support the design, administration, and continuous improvement of compensation and benefits programs across multiple countries within the APAC region. Working closely with the Director, APAC Total Rewards, you will provide expert consultation, analytical insights, and operational leadership to ensure programs remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with Micron's Total Rewards philosophy.

This role plays a critical part in delivering compensation and benefits initiatives, supporting global pay equity programs, conducting market analysis, maintaining governance standards, and partnering with HR and business leaders to address evolving workforce needs. Success in this role requires strong compensation expertise, exceptional analytical capabilities, effective stakeholder management skills, and the ability to translate data into practical business recommendations.

Main Responsibilities

Compensation & Benefits Program Management

  • Support the administration and continuous improvement of compensation and benefits programs across assigned countries and employee populations.

  • Conduct market benchmarking and competitive analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and identify opportunities for enhancement.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to evaluate, recommend, and implement program changes that align with business needs and Total Rewards objectives.

  • Gather and assess feedback from employees, managers, and stakeholders to inform program improvements.

  • Develop and maintain program documentation, communications, and employee reference materials.

  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities related to compensation and benefits programs.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and governance requirements.

Global Pay Equity

  • Co-lead global pay equity programs, including annual review cycles, remediation planning, and continuous enhancement initiatives.

  • Execute statistical pay equity analyses using appropriate methodologies and relevant control factors.

  • Partner with HRIS and People Analytics teams to ensure data integrity, completeness, and readiness for analysis.

  • Support the development and maintenance of global pay equity governance frameworks and remediation approaches.

  • Manage requirements and support implementation of pay equity tools, reporting capabilities, and processes.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on pay equity practices, methodologies, and emerging market trends.

Stakeholder Consultation & Partnership

  • Provide compensation and benefits consultation to HR partners, business leaders, and key stakeholders.

  • Assess business needs and develop recommendations that balance competitiveness, sustainability, and business objectives.

  • Develop cost models, analytical insights, and business cases to support decision-making.

  • Deliver training and education on compensation, benefits, and Total Rewards programs.

  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and effectively communicate complex compensation concepts to a broad audience.

  • Gather stakeholder feedback and identify opportunities for process and program improvements.

Job Evaluation & Market Benchmarking

  • Conduct job evaluations and support job architecture activities for new and existing roles.

  • Partner with leaders and HR teams to understand role requirements and organizational needs.

  • Evaluate internal job alignment and external market benchmarks to ensure consistent job placement.

  • Develop recommendations and support rationale for new job creation, revisions, and job structure enhancements.

  • Maintain job inventory and support documentation.

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

  • Monitor relevant compensation and benefits regulations and emerging legislative developments.

  • Assess potential compliance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation actions.

  • Partner with internal and external experts to interpret regulatory requirements and support compliant program administration.

  • Maintain governance processes and controls across assigned Total Rewards programs.

Compensation Structures & Market Data

  • Participate in compensation survey submissions and market pricing activities.

  • Analyze salary survey data and market trends to support compensation decisions.

  • Develop recommendations to maintain competitive and equitable pay structures.

  • Support regular review and maintenance of salary ranges and compensation frameworks.

  • Partner with HR and business stakeholders to validate compensation recommendations.

Analytics, Reporting & Systems

  • Design, maintain, and deliver compensation and benefits reports, dashboards, and analyses.

  • Translate data into actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders.

  • Develop modeling scenarios and business impact assessments to support decision-making.

  • Maintain compensation-related data integrity across systems and processes.

  • Support testing, audits, issue resolution, and continuous improvement of Total Rewards systems and tools.

Project Participation

  • Lead or participate in regional and global Total Rewards projects.

  • Represent the Total Rewards function on cross-functional initiatives.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and support successful project delivery and change adoption.

Other Responsibilities

  • Utilize analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve operational efficiency, reporting quality, and decision-making effectiveness.

  • Apply responsible AI practices when evaluating workforce data, compensation outcomes, and process improvement opportunities.

  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes while maintaining appropriate governance, confidentiality, and data integrity standards.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance employee experience and operational excellence across Total Rewards programs.

  • Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices relevant to compensation, benefits, analytics, and AI-enabled work.

Candidate Profile / Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum 10 years of Compensation & Benefits experience, preferably within multinational and dynamic business environments.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting compensation programs across multiple countries and stakeholder groups.

  • Experience performing advanced compensation analysis and developing data-driven recommendations.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of compensation program design, market benchmarking, salary structure development, and job evaluation methodologies.

  • Advanced understanding of pay equity methodologies, statistical analysis, governance practices, and remediation approaches.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, including data analysis, modeling, and reporting.

  • Experience working with Workday and other HR technology platforms.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret complex datasets and identify meaningful insights.

Digital & AI Literacy

  • Experience leveraging digital tools, analytics platforms, automation solutions, and AI-assisted technologies to improve productivity and decision-making.

  • Understanding of responsible AI principles and the ability to apply AI-generated insights appropriately within a business environment.

  • Ability to evaluate and improve processes through technology-enabled solutions.

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Global Remuneration Professional (GRP), or equivalent professional certification.

  • Experience supporting global pay equity initiatives or enterprise-wide compensation governance programs.

  • Experience within technology, semiconductor, manufacturing, or other complex multinational industries.
