Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Bioinformatics Research Fellow with exceptional organisation and communication skills to work on a major research project under the direction of Principal Investigator. This role involves designing, implementing, and analyzing complex statistical models and algorithms to extract meaningful insights from biological data sets. The specialist will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to cutting-edge research projects in genomics, proteomics, and other related areas.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement advanced statistical methodologies for analyzing large-scale biological data sets, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data.

2. Apply machine learning, data mining, and other computational techniques to identify patterns, correlations, and predictive models in biological data.

3. Collaborate with researchers and scientists to design and execute experiments, ensuring appropriate statistical design and analysis methods are applied.

4. Conduct statistical analysis of high-dimensional data, including hypothesis testing, clustering, classification, and regression analysis.

5. Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and computational tools to process and analyze biological data.

  • Supports projects from generation of study ideas, through collaborative discussion, to research design, implementation, monitoring.
  • Develops research protocols that include processes for recruitment, informed consent, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Development study proposals, grants, and written summaries of statistical findings, and manuscripts for publication.
  • Be able to author of high-quality scientific and scholarly articles for submission and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepares budget proposals for supplies and equipment needed for research expenditures.
  • Maintains compliance with the IRB and grantors by completing study submissions, amendments/progress reports, continuing reviews and final reports.
  • Collects and analyzes data and prepares reports, inclusive of graphs, tables, and results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree required with at least 2 years’ experience in bioinformatics, statistics, computational biology, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques. 3. Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics and statistical analysis (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB, or similar).
