Technician (Machining - Manual Lathe & Cylindrical Grinding)

Job Summary

The Machining Technician will support repair, overhaul, and refurbishment activities for compressor and rotating equipment components. This role requires hands-on experience in operating conventional (non-CNC) machining equipment, including manual lathes and cylindrical grinding machines, to restore components to required specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate conventional manual lathe machines and cylindrical grinding machines for component repair and refurbishment.
• Perform machining, grinding, and fitting work in accordance with engineering drawings and repair procedures.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble compressor components and related equipment.
• Conduct dimensional checks using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
• Interpret technical drawings, repair specifications, and work instructions.
• Ensure machined parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in accordance with safety and 5S standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workshop capabilities and reduce outsourcing requirements.
• Perform other workshop duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Background in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or related discipline.
• 5 years of relevant machining experience in a manufacturing, repair, or workshop environment.
• Strong hands-on experience operating in conventional (manual) lathe machines and manual cylindrical grinding machines.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and tolerances.
• Experience in compressor, rotating equipment, pump, turbine, or heavy machinery repair is an advantage.
• Forklift license is preferred but not mandatory.
