  • Sweep, vacuum and mop floors and clean carpets or floor surfaces as required.
  • Clean and disinfect tables, chairs, shelves, door handles and other frequently touched surfaces.
  • Clean and sanitise children's toilets, adult toilets, sinks and wash areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pantry and food preparation areas in accordance with the school's hygiene practices.

  • Carry out periodic deep cleaning of designated areas, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
  • Support additional cleaning and disinfection when required, including during periods of increased illness or following incidents involving bodily fluids.
  • Clean and sanitise toys, learning materials and play equipment as required according to the school's cleaning schedule.
  • Replenish essential washroom and hygiene consumables such as soap, hand towels/tissue and toilet rolls.
  • Carry out basic laundry duties, such as washing and handling cleaning cloths, linens or other washable items used by the school, where required.

Classroom & School Support

  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of classroom furniture, learning materials and equipment where required.
  • Support cleaning and clearing of dining areas before and after children's meals and snacks, including washing or clearing children's utensils where this forms part of the campus routine.
  • Support cleaning before and after school events, workshops, Open Houses or other activities when necessary.
  • Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored after use and kept safely out of children's reach.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and inform the relevant school leader when stocks need to be replenished.
  • Promptly report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, safety hazards, pest concerns or other issues observed while carrying out cleaning duties.

Multi-Campus Support

  • The role is assigned to two preschool campuses, and the Cleaner will be required to travel between both campuses each week according to the agreed work schedule.
  • The allocation of working days between campuses may vary depending on operational requirements.
  • The Cleaner may occasionally be required to adjust the campus schedule to provide additional cleaning support where needed.
  • The ability and willingness to travel independently between both assigned campuses is an essential requirement of the role.

Health & Safety

  • Follow the school's cleaning, hygiene, infection-control and workplace safety procedures at all times.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with the school's Environmental Sanitation Programme and prescribed cleaning and disinfection schedules.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with instructions.
  • Ensure wet floors and areas undergoing cleaning are appropriately managed to minimise risks to children, families and staff.
  • Maintain particularly high standards of hygiene given the young age of the children within the preschool environment.
  • Comply with all applicable preschool health, safety and hygiene requirements.

Requirements

  • Prior cleaning or housekeeping experience is preferred; experience working in a preschool, childcare centre, school or similar environment would be an advantage.
  • Able to carry out physically active duties, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, sweeping and mopping.

  • Good attention to detail and a strong awareness of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with young children.
  • Able to communicate effectively with school leaders and staff.
  • Able and willing to travel between two assigned preschool campuses each week.
  • Flexible and willing to support reasonable cleaning requirements according to the operational needs of the schools.
  • Prior cooking or kitchen experience, particularly in a preschool or childcare setting, would be an added advantage. Candidates with relevant cooking experience may be considered for an additional salary component where they are able to provide cooking support when required.

Additional Cooking Support (Where Applicable)

  • This is primarily a Preschool Cleaner position. However, employees with suitable cooking experience may occasionally be asked to provide cooking or kitchen support on a need-to basis, such as during the absence of the regular cook or when additional campus support is required.
  • Where cooking duties are assigned, responsibilities may include preparing simple meals and snacks according to the school's approved menu, maintaining food and kitchen hygiene, washing utensils and keeping food preparation areas clean and organised.
  • Employees undertaking cooking duties must possess any food safety or hygiene certification required for the duties assigned.
  • Where an employee is formally expected to take on cooking support in addition to the core cleaning role, an additional salary component may be offered, depending on experience, relevant certification and the extent of cooking responsibilities required.
