MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) – AWS Migration

Job Summary

We seek an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong AWS cloud migration expertise to lead the migration of multi-terabyte on-premises MySQL environments to AWS.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end migration of multi-terabyte MySQL databases from on-premises VMware/Hyper-V/KVM environments to AWS, ensuring minimal downtime
• Design and implement near-zero-downtime migration and cutover strategies to maintain business continuity
• Assess workloads including CPU, memory, and disk I/O to accurately size AWS infrastructure
• Configure hybrid connectivity using AWS Direct Connect and IPsec VPN for secure, reliable network integration
• Execute migrations using AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) and AWS Application Migration Service (AWS MGN) to ensure data integrity and efficiency
• Design and manage AWS VPC networking including subnets, routing, Security Groups, Network ACLs, and IAM policies for secure and scalable environments
• Configure and optimize Amazon EC2 instances, EBS storage, and AWS Managed Database services to maximize performance and cost-efficiency
• Implement High Availability, Disaster Recovery, backup, and security solutions to safeguard data and ensure service resilience
• Perform MySQL performance tuning, query optimization, and post-migration validation to ensure database reliability and speed
• Monitor database health and performance using Amazon CloudWatch, Performance Schema, and Slow Query Logs to proactively address issues

Required competencies and certifications

• Proven expertise as MySQL DBA with 5–8+ years managing MySQL 5.7/8.0+ and MariaDB environments
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on AWS migration experience involving EC2, storage, and networking
• Skilled in AWS services including Amazon RDS, AWS DMS, AWS MGN, AWS EC2, EBS, VPC, Direct Connect, IPsec VPN, Transit Gateway, IAM, and KMS
• Experience with GTID-based Replication, MySQL Group Replication, Orchestrator, ProxySQL, and AWS Network Load Balancer (NLB)
• Strong knowledge of backup, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery best practices

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Experience migrating on-premises virtualized infrastructure (VMware/Hyper-V/KVM) to AWS
• Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production database administration skills
• Initial Engagement 3months with potential renewable.
