Officer / Senior Officer - Trade Operations - European Bank

An established European Corporate/Investment Bank is seeking an experienced Trade Finance professional to join its Trade Operations team, specialising in LC document checking while managing end-to-end trade finance transactions and assigned customer portfolios.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform first- and second-level checking of LC documents, including confirmed, back-to-back, front-to-back and other structured LC transactions, identifying discrepancies and structural mismatches and escalating associated risks.
• Process the full suite of trade products — Letters of Credit, Standby LCs, Guarantees, Collections, Bills Discounting and Trade Loans — on an end-to-end basis.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures, applicable ICC rules and Singapore regulatory requirements, including sanctions screening and controls covering operational risk, trade fraud and financial crime.
• Serve as the primary operational contact for assigned customers, monitoring outstanding transactions, maturity dates and settlement flows, and partnering with Relationship Managers, Credit and Compliance to resolve issues promptly.
• Provide technical guidance and document-checking training to junior team members and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Business, Commerce or a related discipline, with at least five years' experience in LC document checking or trade finance operations.
• Strong technical knowledge of structured LC transactions (confirmed, back-to-back, front-to-back), the wider trade product suite and relevant processing systems.
• CDCS certification preferred; other ICC trade certifications advantageous. Sound working knowledge of applicable ICC rules and Singapore regulatory requirements.
• Exposure to process improvement, LEAN, OCR or AI-driven trade finance initiatives advantageous; proficient in Microsoft Office, with Power BI an added advantage.
• Detail-oriented and analytical, with strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
