Medical Technologist

Responsibilities:

• Registration of patient sample, handling telephone inquiries by clients, printing and faxing of patient results.
• Perform a wide variety of laboratory test and procedures.
• Check and review pending test and provide documentation for cause of delay in completing the test.
• Perform and review daily QC results and discuss any QC issues with section-in-charge for corrective action to take.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of instruments used in the laboratory and to report to section-in-charge, Hospital BME and vendor of any instrument not functioning properly.
• Perform 6-monthly validation of minor equipment such as thermometer, pipette, timer and blood box.
• Participate and perform any inter-laboratory quality assurance (IQA), external quality assurance (EQA) and proficiency testing programs that the laboratory is subscribed to.
• Perform weekly or bi-weekly or monthly inventory stock check of Laboratory consumables and reagents and submit the laboratory stock order form to the section-in-charge
• Perform annual reading of applicable laboratory policies (manuals, QAP, SOP and WI).
• Participate in the annual quality improvement projects in the laboratory.
• Check, comply and maintain all applicable safety regulations in the laboratory and report non-compliance to section-in-charge for corrective action.

Requirements:

• Diploma / Degree in related field of study
• Preferably with at least 2 years of relevant experience in laboratory setting
