1.Teaching and Learning
Plan and deliver engaging art lessons that encourage creative exploration, experimentation and skill development.
Adapt teaching approaches to support diverse learning needs, providing clear scaffolding, demonstrations and visual guidance where appropriate.
Break down complex artistic processes into manageable steps, supporting students to build confidence and resilience in their work.
Encourage students to express ideas, emotions and experiences through creative practice.
Develop students’ understanding of artistic materials, tools and processes, fostering respect for safe and responsible studio practice.
Assess student progress through observation, portfolios and individual feedback.
Communicate student progress with parents and collaborate with the student’s support team where appropriate.
2. Studio Environment & Creative Culture
Maintain a well-organised, safe and inspiring studio environment that encourages creativity and experimentation.
Ensure the art studio remains a welcoming space where students feel confident exploring ideas and taking creative risks.
Promote a culture where mistakes are seen as part of the creative process and learning journey.
3. Community & Engagement
Organise and curate school art exhibitions that celebrate and showcase student work.
Encourage engagement with the arts through opportunities such as gallery visits, artist talks and creative collaborations where possible.
Participate in school events and activities that celebrate student creativity and artistic achievement.
Lead at least one art-related CCA each term, including opportunities for students to explore clay, ceramics and craft-based artistic practices.
Support and contribute to school programmes such as camps, enrichment activities or holiday programmes where required.
4. Communication & Collaboration
Work collaboratively with colleagues, including the Head of Secondary and Curriculum and Assessment Lead to support consistent teaching and learning practices.
Maintain clear communication with students, parents and staff regarding student progress and learning.
Participate in staff meetings, professional learning and school events as required.
Engage in professional dialogue to reflect on and improve teaching practice.
Support art exhibitions, enrichment programmes, field trips, school events, or creative arts initiatives where required.
5. Professional Responsibilities
Participate in the School’s appraisal and professional development processes.
Engage in ongoing professional learning to enhance teaching practice.
Contribute to school programmes such as camps, enrichment activities or holiday programmes where required.
Uphold professional standards and act as a positive role model within the school community.
Conduct or support 1 ECA per term.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts or a related field.Teaching qualification or relevant certification (preferred).
Minimum four years teaching experience.
Experience working with neurodiverse students (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning differences) is highly advantageous.
Strong understanding of differentiated and inclusive teaching strategies.
Ability to design engaging, hands-on and sensory-aware learning experiences.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent command of English.
Commitment to creativity, inclusion and student-centred learning.
