Job Summary
Conduct individual or group Pilates classes, assess client fitness and goals, create tailored programs, demonstrate techniques, and ensure safe, effective exercise. Build client relationships and maintain studio standards to promote health and wellness.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual or group Pilates classes using mat and/or equipment to deliver effective workouts
- Assess clients’ fitness levels, movement patterns, goals, and limitations to inform program design
- Create and adapt Pilates programs tailored to each client’s needs and abilities for optimal results
- Demonstrate Pilates exercises and explain proper techniques, breathing, alignment, and movement to clients
- Monitor clients during exercises and provide corrections to ensure safety and effectiveness
- Modify exercises appropriately for beginners, older adults, pregnant clients, or those with physical limitations within scope of practice
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized studio environment and ensure correct use of Pilates equipment
- Build positive client relationships and motivate clients to maintain consistent exercise habits
- Track client progress and adjust Pilates programs as needed to meet evolving goals
- Stay updated on Pilates techniques, anatomy, movement science, and industry best practices
- Follow studio policies, safety procedures, and professional standards consistently
- Assist with client consultations, class scheduling, studio events, and promotion of Pilates services as needed
Required competencies and certifications
- Comprehensive Pilates certified
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and safe movement principles
- Strong communication and teaching skills to effectively instruct diverse clients
- Ability to work with clients of varying fitness levels and adapt programs accordingly
- Good observation skills and attention to detail for monitoring client form and safety
- Patience, motivation, and professionalism in client interactions
- Basic first aid/CPR certification is an advantage or may be required depending on role
- Experience with mat Pilates and/or equipment Pilates (all apparatus)
