About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing organization within the energy and commodities sector seeking an analytical and commercially minded Energy Analyst to support market research, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making across global energy markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental and quantitative analysis across energy markets, including crude oil, refined products, natural gas, LNG, power, and renewables.
- Monitor market developments, supply-demand dynamics, geopolitical events, weather trends, freight movements, and regulatory changes impacting commodity prices.
- Utilize AI tools and data analytics techniques to enhance market research, automate workflows, and generate actionable insights.
- Build and maintain datasets, dashboards, models, and analytical reports to support commercial, trading, investment, and risk management decisions.
- Gather and analyze market intelligence from a range of structured and unstructured data sources.
- Analyze pricing curves, inventory data, operational trends, trade flows, and other key market indicators across the energy value chain.
- Collaborate with commercial, quantitative, risk, and technology teams to improve analytical frameworks and market strategies.
- Support forecasting, scenario analysis, and strategic evaluations of energy market opportunities and risks.
- Prepare concise reports and presentations summarizing market outlooks, risks, and opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Data Science, Energy Studies, or a related discipline.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in energy markets, commodities, utilities, market research, trading, or related analytical functions.
- Strong understanding of energy market fundamentals, pricing drivers, market structure, and supply-demand dynamics.
- Knowledge of crude oil, refined products, natural gas, LNG, power, or renewable energy markets.
- Familiarity with AI tools, large language models, or data-driven analytical workflows is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with Python, SQL, and/or data visualization tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and commercial acumen.
