BBC Chartering is one of the world leading companies in transportation of non-containerized goods, head-quartered in Leer, Germany. We operate a diverse fleet of more than 140modern multipurpose vessels with lifting capacities up to 800 mts in 30 offices around the world. We are constantly developing the portfolio of vessels with a substantial new building program where the trend is larger vessels with higher lifting capacity.

We are looking for a Trainee for a 2-year programme in our Singapore Office starting 1st January 2027.

Our 24-month Traineeship rotational programme is designed to nurture and develop talents through an accelerated learning and development plan towards becoming a well-rounded Trainee. The programme will provide you with an opportunity to explore your prospects through a broad, yet in-depth exposure to our business with the chance to move into a specialized role within the company’s departments after successful completion of the programme.

You will be part of an international organization. You will participate in hands-on rotational assignments across various departments namely, Technical, Operations and Chartering. This experience will grant you a holistic view of the business and correlations among the different functions. Some of the key functions that you will learn are:

■ Understanding the company’s specialization in project and heavy-lift cargo

■ Connection between technical department and commercial success (how engineering decisions affect chartering and operations)

■ Learning HSEQ Protocols, software tools like Loadplanner, AutoCad, Lashing tool

■ Vessel Coordination, port call planning, Laytime calculation

■ Co-ordination between ship captains, agents and customers

■ Coordinate with the relevant chartering and operations teams to ensure a smooth handover from fixing to operations

■ You will be given responsibility of handling actual voyages and shipments under supervision

■ Evaluation of cargo inquiries, pricing, negotiation and fixing of cargoes

■ Accurate voyage estimates and adaptation to calculation system

■ Decarbonization and Fleet Management

Key Requirements:

■ Applicant must be a Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident

■ Diploma/Degree in any field of study - preferably maritime studies

■ Fresh graduates may also apply

■ Ability to communicate effectively in English language both oral and written

■ Work independently in a fast-paced environment

■ Pro-active and highly engaged, with the ability to take initiative and develop creative approaches to solutions

■ Proficient in computer software applications

■ Resourceful, good organizational and interpersonal skills
