AML Technical Lead (Firco / Payments)

Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced AML Technical Lead to lead the technical design, integration and implementation of Anti-MoneyLaundering solutions within a banking environment.
The role requires strong experience in AML/KYC platforms, payment systems and enterprise application integration, ideally with hands-on exposure to Firco. You will work with technology teams, business stakeholders and solution vendors to deliver secure, scalable and compliant solutions across regional banking operations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead the technical design and implementation of AML and financial crime technology solutions.
- Define solution architecture and technical approaches that align with enterprise standards and business requirements.
- Provide technical direction to development and integration teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Establish appropriate technical standards covering security, performance, scalability and maintainability.
- Review technical solutions and ensure engineering best practices are followed.
AML & Banking Systems Integration
- Lead the integration of AML platforms with core banking, payment and other enterprise systems.
- Work with APIs, microservices and integration technologies to enable reliable communication between banking applications.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of Firco or similar AML/sanctions screening platforms.
- Ensure solutions can support high-volume and cross-border payment processing requirements.
- Work closely with architecture, development, infrastructure and operations teams during implementation.
Delivery & Quality
- Manage technical activities from solution design through development, testing, deployment and production readiness.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies and integration issues and drive them through to resolution.
- Conduct technical reviews and support troubleshooting and performance optimization.
- Ensure solutions meet banking security, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Promote automation and engineering practices that improve system stability and delivery efficiency.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Work closely with business, compliance, technology and project teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Coordinate with technology vendors and platform providers during implementation and integration.
- Act as a key technical point of contact for project stakeholders.
- Provide clear updates on technical progress, risks and issues to project and senior management.
- Collaborate with regional teams supporting implementations across APAC.
Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Guide and mentor technical team members across development and integration activities.
- Establish reusable technical standards and implementation practices.
- Maintain technical documentation and capture lessons learned from implementations.
- Evaluate new technologies and approaches that can improve AML platforms and delivery capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of IT experience, with strong exposure to solution design, system integration and implementation.
- 10+ years of experience within international banking or financial services, preferably covering AML, KYC or regulatory compliance technology.
- Strong experience with AML systems, preferably Firco, and their integration with banking applications.
- Good understanding of cross-border payments, high-value transactions and payment processing systems.
- Proven experience leading large-scale banking technology implementations across multiple markets.
- Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, system integration and enterprise application architecture.
- Good understanding of banking security, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing technical delivery involving vendors and geographically distributed teams.
- Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience working across APAC banking environments is highly advantageous.
- TOGAF or other enterprise architecture certification would be an advantage.
