ASSISTANT COOK

Job Summary

As an Assistant Cook, assist the Head Cook to prepare and arrange food. Their duties include cleaning the kitchen area, washing dishes and utensils, ensuring the Head Cook has all required items to run the kitchen efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals by cleaning, cutting, and chopping food ingredients under the Head Cook’s guidance to support meal preparation
• Set up and stock preparation stations and kitchen areas to ensure smooth and timely meal preparation
• Maintain food preparation and storage areas to comply with health and safety standards and prevent contamination
• Clean preparation areas thoroughly and manage leftover food responsibly to maintain hygiene and reduce waste
• Stock inventory and supplies accurately to support uninterrupted kitchen operations
• Communicate clearly and coordinate tasks with team members to enhance kitchen workflow and efficiency
• Follow instructions from the Head Cook and report progress regularly to ensure kitchen standards and timelines are met
• Clean and sanitize food preparation areas according to company hygiene codes and health and safety standards
• Maintain overall kitchen cleanliness and wash dishes and utensils to support smooth kitchen operations

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Basic knowledge of food preparation and hygiene practices to ensure safe food handling
• Aptitude for multi-tasking to manage various kitchen duties efficiently
• Ability to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment
• Minimum 3 years of experience working in a kitchen environment
