1. ROLE PURPOSE
The Personal Trainer/ Coach is responsible for delivering safe, professional and results-driven personal training services while contributing to the overall success of the club.
The role requires the trainer to build strong relationships with members, develop and maintain a personal training client base, achieve agreed sales and service targets, support member retention, and contribute to a positive and professional gym environment.
The Personal Trainer/ Coach is expected to represent the Anytime Fitness brand professionally at all times and work closely with the Club Manager and team to support the club's operational and commercial objectives.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Personal Training & Client Results
Conduct initial fitness consultations and assessments to understand each client's goals, fitness level, limitations and training history.
Design safe, effective and personalised training programmes based on individual goals and abilities.
Conduct professional one-to-one and/or small-group class sessions.
Demonstrate correct exercise techniques and ensure clients maintain proper form.
Monitor clients throughout each session and make appropriate programme adjustments.
Track client progress, including relevant fitness and performance measurements.
Conduct regular progress reviews with clients.
Set realistic short-term and long-term fitness goals with clients.
Provide appropriate motivation, encouragement and accountability.
Ensure all training sessions are conducted in a safe, professional and engaging manner.
Maintain accurate records of client programmes, attendance and progress.
B. Member Engagement & Gym Floor Presence
Maintain a visible and approachable presence on the gym floor.
Build positive relationships with members, including members who are not currently PT/coaching clients.
Proactively introduce yourself to new and existing members.
Assist members with basic exercise technique and safe equipment usage where appropriate.
Conduct gym orientations for new members when assigned.
Identify members who may benefit from additional coaching or personal training.
Encourage a welcoming, friendly and community-oriented gym environment.
Support member engagement activities, challenges and club events.
C. Personal Training Sales & Business Development
Actively develop and maintain a personal training client base.
Follow up with leads, prospects and members who have expressed interest in personal training/coaching.
Conduct complimentary consultations, fitness assessments or trial sessions where required.
Clearly communicate the value and benefits of personal training.
Present appropriate PT packages based on the client's needs and goals.
Achieve agreed monthly PT sales, session and revenue targets.
Generate new PT leads through member engagement, referrals, gym floor interactions and other approved channels.
Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage renewals and referrals.
Follow up with inactive or expiring PT clients where appropriate.
Maintain accurate records of leads, consultations, sales and follow-ups.
Personal Trainers are expected to understand that PT is both a coaching and client-development role. Current Anytime Fitness Singapore listings specifically include PT package sales, client acquisition, retention and sales targets as part of the role.
D. Member Retention & Customer Service
Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service.
Build genuine and professional relationships with members.
Take ownership of the client's overall training experience.
Identify potential issues affecting client satisfaction and communicate them to the Club Manager.
Encourage clients to remain consistent with their training and gym attendance.
Support the club's member retention initiatives.
Encourage satisfied clients to provide referrals and recommendations.
Handle member concerns professionally and escalate complaints when necessary.
E. Gym Operations & Cleanliness
Maintain a clean, organised and professional training area.
Return equipment to its proper location after use.
Ensure equipment is used safely and correctly.
Report damaged, faulty or unsafe equipment to the Head Coach immediately.
Assist with routine gym floor checks where required.
Maintain appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards within the training area.
Support general club housekeeping when required.
Assist with club events, promotions and operational activities.
Anytime Fitness specifically includes maintaining a clean and safe training environment, inspecting equipment and supporting general gym tidiness.
F. Safety & Professional Standards
Prioritise client safety during every training session.
Follow all club safety procedures and emergency protocols.
Maintain valid and recognised Personal Trainer certification.
Maintain required First Aid / CPR / AED certification where applicable.
Conduct appropriate screening and assessments before commencing training.
Recognise when a client should be referred to a qualified medical or healthcare professional.
Do not provide medical diagnosis or treatment outside the trainer's professional scope.
Maintain professional boundaries with all members.
Report accidents, injuries or incidents to management immediately.
Ensure training programmes are appropriate to the client's capabilities and limitations.
G. Nutrition & Lifestyle Guidance
Provide general fitness, recovery and healthy lifestyle guidance within the scope of a Personal Trainer.
Provide basic nutritional education where appropriately qualified.
Encourage sustainable lifestyle habits relating to exercise, recovery, hydration and general wellness.
Avoid providing medical, therapeutic or specialised nutritional advice outside the trainer's qualifications.
H. Administration & Reporting
Maintain accurate PT client records.
Keep training schedules and appointments updated.
Record completed PT sessions accurately.
Complete required daily, weekly and monthly PT reports.
Submit sales and lead activity reports as required.
Maintain accurate client attendance and package information.
Inform management promptly of cancellations, no-shows or client concerns.
Follow all club procedures relating to PT packages, payments, scheduling and documentation.
I. Marketing & Community Engagement
Support club marketing and promotional activities.
Participate in approved social media content and fitness-related campaigns where required.
Support member challenges, workshops and fitness events.
Assist with PT-related promotional activities.
Encourage referrals and word-of-mouth recommendations.
Represent the club positively both inside and outside the gym.
J. Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with the Club Manager and other staff members.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Communicate operational issues promptly.
Support fellow team members when required.
Maintain positive and professional working relationships.
Share relevant member feedback and observations with management.
Be willing to undertake reasonable additional duties required for the smooth operation of the club.

4. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
The Personal Trainer is expected to:
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanour.
Be punctual and reliable.
Treat all members equally and respectfully.
Maintain confidentiality regarding member information.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Demonstrate honesty and integrity in all sales and training activities.
Never make misleading claims regarding fitness, weight loss, health or expected results.
Follow all Anytime Fitness and club-specific policies and procedures.
Protect the reputation and interests of the club at all times.
5. WORKING HOURS & AVAILABILITY
As a full-time Personal Trainer, the employee is expected to work according to the club's roster and operational requirements.
This may include:
Weekday shifts
Evening shifts
Weekend shifts
Peak gym hours
Staff meetings and training
Club events and promotional activities
The trainer is expected to maintain sufficient availability during peak member periods to support both PT sessions and member engagement.
6. CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The Personal Trainer is expected to continuously improve their technical and professional knowledge by:
Keeping certifications current.
Attending relevant training and development sessions.
Staying updated on evidence-based training methods.
Improving coaching and communication skills.
Developing knowledge of strength training, cardiovascular training, mobility and conditioning.
Learning and applying appropriate client assessment and progression methods.
Sharing relevant knowledge with the wider team.
7. OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY
The Personal Trainer is ultimately accountable for:
