Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to plan, coordinate and manage construction projects from commencement to completion. The role will oversee project execution, Civil & Structural works, construction activities, project schedules, resources, quality, safety, risk management and stakeholder coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and in accordance with contractual and project requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors and project teams and will provide project management, construction coordination and technical site supervision throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring project objectives, schedules, quality and contractual requirements are achieved.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, work programmes, resource requirements and project execution plans.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, method statements and technical documents relevant to Civil & Structural construction works.
- Plan, coordinate and monitor day-to-day construction activities and overall project progress.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction progress, workmanship and compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Undertake Civil & Structural site supervision and inspection responsibilities as part of the project management and construction coordination function.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, Qualified Persons, Resident Engineers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams on technical and construction matters.
- Monitor project progress, quality, costs, schedules and resource utilisation, and identify delays, risks and operational issues requiring corrective action.
- Plan and coordinate project resources, including project personnel, equipment, materials and other resources, to support efficient project execution.
- Attend project coordination meetings, site meetings and progress meetings, and follow up on outstanding technical, construction, safety and operational matters.
- Lead, supervise and coordinate project personnel and subcontractors to ensure construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently and according to project requirements.
- Review site records, inspection records, progress reports, drawings, correspondence and other project documentation.
- Monitor subcontractor work progress and review supporting documentation relating to progress claims, variation works and other project submissions.
- Review relevant project and subcontractor documentation within the authority assigned by management.
- Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, contractual requirements, workplace safety requirements and applicable regulations.
- Identify construction hazards, project risks, technical issues and site constraints and coordinate appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop, implement and periodically review project-level Risk Management Implementation Plans, including hazard identification, risk assessment, risk control measures, monitoring and follow-up actions.
- Coordinate with project personnel and contractors to ensure identified risk control measures are properly communicated, implemented and monitored.
- Monitor the effectiveness of risk control measures and recommend improvements where required.
- Provide technical and operational guidance to project teams to improve construction quality, productivity, safety and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors and other project stakeholders to resolve project and site matters.
- Provide regular project updates to management on project progress, risks, safety matters, resource requirements and outstanding issues.
- Perform other construction project management and related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant working experience in civil engineering, building construction or construction project management.
- Proven experience in construction project management, construction coordination and site operations.
- Relevant experience in Civil & Structural construction and site supervision.
- Experience working with project teams involving Resident Engineers, RTOs, Qualified Persons, consultants, contractors and subcontractors will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of construction safety, workplace safety and health requirements and safe work practices.
- Experience in risk assessment, construction risk management and implementation of risk control measures.
- Ability to develop, implement and monitor project-level risk management plans.
- Manage Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites (MWSHCS), formerly known as the Construction Safety Course for Project Managers (CSCPM), or equivalent recognised WSH training will be an added advantage.
- Relevant professional qualifications, RTO certification or recognised construction industry certification will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of construction project planning, scheduling, site operations, Civil & Structural works and quality management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, method statements and contractual requirements.
- Strong leadership, organisational, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and project teams.
- Able to work independently, manage multiple project priorities and make sound decisions in a construction environment.
- Proactive, responsible and results oriented.
