Trading Platform Application Engineer (Contract)

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver application projects, enhancements, and change requests.
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications, services, and integrations.
• Develop automation scripts and operational tooling to improve efficiency and resiliency.
• Support application onboarding, configuration, testing, and production implementation.
• Troubleshoot application, connectivity, and production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with business users, application teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and external counterparties.
• Support platform modernization, automation, monitoring, operational improvements, and resiliency initiatives.
• Participate in production support, release deployment, and operational readiness activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, implementation guides, and operational procedures.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

Core Technical Skills

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on software development and support experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java development for enterprise applications.
• Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Korn Shell, Python, or equivalent scripting languages).
• Experience developing and supporting:
• High-throughput applications
• Distributed systems
• Scalable and resilient solutions
• Strong understanding of application performance tuning and optimization.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues and performing root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
• DevOps & Platform Engineering
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance.
• Automated deployment and monitoring solutions.
• Application release and environment management experience.

Preferred Skills

Trading & Integration Domain

• Knowledge of FIX Protocol (FIX 4.x / FIX 5.x).
• Experience onboarding and supporting external connectivity with brokers, trading venues, exchanges, and counterparties.
• Understanding of trade lifecycle, trade execution, and post-trade workflows.
• Experience with commercial FIX engines, gateways, or electronic trading platforms.
• Financial Markets Knowledge
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Treasury and Markets
• Foreign Exchange (FX)
• Fixed Income
• Equities
• Electronic Trading Platforms
• Capital Markets
• Investment Banking
• Additional Technical Skills
• Kafka, AMQ, MQ, or other messaging technologies.
• REST APIs and microservices.
• Monitoring and observability tools.
