We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer (Cybersecurity Systems) to support the deployment, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cybersecurity hardware and software solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and deploying cybersecurity systems across different hardware platforms and environments.
This role requires a strong combination of hardware troubleshooting, operating system administration, software deployment, cybersecurity system hardening, networking, patch management, and technical support skills.
The Technical Support Engineer will work closely with engineering, cybersecurity, project, and customer IT teams to ensure systems are properly installed, configured, tested, secured, maintained, and supported throughout their operational lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
SystemDeployment and Installation
· Prepare, install, configure, test, and deploy cybersecurity hardware and software solutions.
· Support deployments across different hardware platforms.
· Perform pre-deployment hardware and software checks to ensure systems meet technical and project requirements.
· Install and configure approved operating systems, cybersecurity software, supporting applications, drivers, and system components.
· Configure network interfaces, management interfaces, storage, and other required system components.
· Perform system commissioning, verification, and handover activities.
· Support deployment activities at customer sites, offices, and data centre environments where required.
Hardware Troubleshooting and Maintenance
· Perform hands-on hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of equipment.
· Identify faulty or degraded hardware components and perform approved replacement or repair activities.
· Troubleshoot and replace components such as memory, storage devices, SSDs/HDDs, network interface cards, power supplies, cooling components, and other field-replaceable parts.
· Perform hardware functional testing and verification before and after deployment.
· Analyse system diagnostics, event logs, hardware alerts, and error messages to identify and resolve faults.
· Maintain accurate records of hardware assets, serial numbers, faults, repairs, and component replacements.
· Coordinate with hardware vendors and suppliers for technical support, warranty claims, and replacement parts.
Software Installation and System Administration
· Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based and other approved operating systems.
· Install and configure cybersecurity software and supporting applications.
· Perform system imaging, software deployment, restoration, reinstallation, upgrades, and configuration activities.
· Troubleshoot software installation issues, application failures, system service failures, and compatibility problems.
· Maintain systems in accordance with approved technical configurations and operational requirements.
System Hardening and Security Maintenance
· Perform system hardening and secure configuration activities in accordance with approved cybersecurity requirements and technical procedures.
· Configure secure user access, authentication, permissions, and administrative access.
· Remove, disable, or restrict unnecessary services, software, accounts, ports, and system functions where applicable.
· Apply approved security configurations and system baselines.
· Support vulnerability remediation and implementation of security fixes.
· Verify system security and functionality following configuration changes, software upgrades, patches, or hardware replacements.
Patch, Update and Lifecycle Management
· Install and manage approved operating system, software, firmware, and cybersecurity updates.
· Perform patching and system upgrades in accordance with approved maintenance and change management procedures.
· Test and verify system functionality following patches and upgrades.
· Maintain accurate records of software versions, patches, firmware, and system updates.
· Identify and escalate compatibility issues, failed updates, vulnerabilities, and other technical risks.
· Support preventive maintenance, system upgrades, hardware replacement, and technology refresh activities.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
· Provide first-line and second-line technical support for deployed cybersecurity systems.
· Investigate and troubleshoot hardware, operating system, software, networking, and configuration-related issues.
· Perform remote and on-site technical support when required.
· Collect and analyse system logs, diagnostic information, configuration data, and support information.
· Escalate complex issues to senior engineers, software development teams, technology partners, or vendors.
· Support incident investigation, fault isolation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
· Participate in preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Testing, Documentation and Reporting
· Perform hardware and software testing, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT),commissioning, and other required verification activities.
· Verify the operation of hardware components, network interfaces, storage, system services, cybersecurity software, monitoring functions, logging, and alerts.
· Maintain accurate technical documentation, including installation records, configuration records, test reports, maintenance records, and incident reports.
· Ensure technical and configuration changes are properly documented.
· Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, technical procedures, and knowledge base documentation.
· Prepare accurate and detailed technical reports for internal teams, management, customers, and project stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications
· Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
· Proven experience in Technical Support, System Administration, IT Infrastructure Support, Network Support, Field Engineering, or a similar technical role.
· Strong hands-on experience troubleshooting computer, workstation, server, or appliance hardware.
· Experience performing hardware testing, diagnostics, repair, and replacement of system components.
· Good knowledge of Linux and/or other operating systems.
· Experience with operating system installation, software deployment, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
· Good understanding of computer and server hardware, including processors, memory, storage, network interfaces, power supplies, and cooling systems.
· Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, IP addressing, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to read and follow technical documentation, deployment procedures, installation guides, and test plans.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, project, cybersecurity, and customer teams.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Experience with Python, Bash, Shell, PowerShell, or other scripting/automation tools will be an advantage.
· Willingness to perform hands-on technical work at customer sites, offices, and data centres when required.
