Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operational requirements of assigned product and chemical tanker voyages and/or time charter arrangements.
  • Coordinate pre-fixture operational matters, including voyage feasibility and clearance, port and terminal requirements, bunker planning, documentation, cargo requirements, and other operational preparations.
  • Support post-fixture voyage execution, including voyage instructions, charter party requirements, vessel monitoring, port operations, cargo operations, and operational follow-up.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, voyage progress, port turnaround, cargo operations, bunkers, and other operational matters to support efficient voyage execution.
  • Liaise closely with Masters, ship managers, charterers, brokers, agents, terminal operators, cargo interests, and service providers to coordinate voyage requirements and resolve operational issues.
  • Monitor voyage costs and commercial matters, including freight, hire, demurrage, port costs, bunker costs, and other voyage-related expenses and receivables.
  • Follow up on freight, hire, demurrage, claims, and other voyage-related receivables and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor and assist in resolving operational incidents, disputes, claims, delays, and other matters arising during the voyage, with appropriate escalation where required.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, voyage documentation, charter party information, correspondence, claims, and other supporting records.
  • Communicate with business partners and stakeholders in North Asia and China in English and Mandarin on operational matters, documentation, negotiations, follow-up, and issue resolution.
  • Prepare voyage updates, business correspondence, reports, and presentation materials in English and Chinese where required.
  • Support the Operations Manager on operational, commercial, and other matters relating to the assigned tanker fleet.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in tanker operations, preferably with experience handling product and/or chemical tankers.
  • Good working knowledge of tanker voyage operations, shipping logistics, port and terminal operations, cargo operations, and vessel turnaround requirements.
  • Familiarity with tanker charter party terms and the operational requirements involved in voyage execution.
  • Good commercial awareness, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess operational issues and follow through on solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple voyages and operational matters concurrently in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with Masters, ship managers, charterers, brokers, agents, terminal operators, cargo interests, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin to communicate effectively with business partners and stakeholders in North Asia and China in relation to operational discussions, negotiations, documentation, follow-up, and issue resolution.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, attention to detail, and professionalism.

Working Requirements

  • The role involves time-sensitive tanker operations and may require communication and coordination outside normal office hours when necessary to support ongoing vessel and voyage operations.
