Key Responsibilities
1. Full Set of Accounting
- Manage the full set of accounts, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), general ledger, bank reconciliation, month-end closing, and year-end closing.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and financial reports in accordance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and, where applicable, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of accounting records and financial reporting.
2. Multi-Currency Accounting & Foreign Exchange
- Handle accounting transactions involving multiple currencies, including USD, RMB, SGD, and other foreign currencies.
- Maintain accurate foreign currency accounting records and perform foreign currency revaluation at month-end and year-end.
- Calculate and account for realised and unrealised foreign exchange gains and losses (FX gains/losses).
- Understand the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash balances, intercompany transactions, and overall profitability.
3. International Trade & Commercial Finance
- Handle accounting and financial matters relating to international trading and cross-border transactions, including purchases, sales, imports, exports, shipping, customs-related costs, and trade-related expenses.
- Experience in an international trading, commodity trading, or import/export company will be highly preferred.
- Familiarity with common international trade terms and payment methods, including L/C, T/T, D/P, D/A, and other trade finance instruments, will be an advantage.
- Understand the accounting treatment of transactions involving overseas suppliers, customers, distributors, and related parties.
4. Singapore Taxation
- Handle Singapore tax compliance matters and assist with corporate tax and tax-related reporting.
- Maintain proper supporting documentation for tax reporting and ensure compliance with IRAS requirements.
- Liaise with IRAS, tax agents, auditors, and other external professional advisers when required.
5. Statutory Compliance
- Assist with annual statutory reporting and compliance requirements with ACRA and IRAS.
- Coordinate with external auditors and prepare supporting schedules and documentation for annual audits.
6. Headquarters & Cross-Border Coordination
- Work closely with the China headquarters on financial reporting, cash flow management, intercompany transactions, and other finance-related matters.
- Ensure proper reconciliation and accounting treatment for intercompany balances and cross-border transactions.
Qualifications & Requirements
1. Open to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents only
2. Language & Communication
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
- Able to communicate effectively with the China headquarters and coordinate with Singapore-based auditors, tax agents, banks, government agencies, suppliers, and customers.
3. Educational Background
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree or above in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Candidates with a Diploma and substantial relevant working experience will also be considered.
- ACCA, CA Singapore, CPA, or equivalent professional qualifications will be highly advantageous.
4. Professional Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, preferably in Singapore.
- Candidates with experience in international trading, commodity trading, import/export, or multinational companies are strongly preferred.
- Experience handling cross-border transactions and working with overseas suppliers and customers will be an advantage.
5. Accounting & Reporting Standards
- Strong knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Able to independently manage a full set of accounts and prepare financial statements.
- Strong understanding of month-end and year-end closing procedures.
6. Multi-Currency & Foreign Exchange Accounting
- Strong knowledge of multi-currency accounting and foreign exchange accounting.
- Able to accurately account for transactions denominated in USD, RMB, SGD, EUR, and other foreign currencies.
- Must understand the difference between realised and unrealised foreign exchange gains and losses and their impact on the income statement, balance sheet, and management reporting.
- Experience in managing foreign exchange exposure in an international trading environment will be a strong advantage.
7. Singapore Tax
- Good knowledge of Singapore tax regulations and filing procedures.
- Familiarity with IRAS, corporate income tax, ECI, and other relevant Singapore tax compliance matters.
- Experience liaising with auditors and tax agents is preferred.
8. Accounting & Office Software
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Strong data analysis and financial reporting skills.
