Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. In this role, you will optimize user journeys, improve model performance or latency and maximize sustainable user growth. You will contribute significantly to Google Wallet achieving one of its most critical missions: Wallet as an account primitive in Google, connecting Wallet to all first-party products effectively.

Qualifications

Job responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable ingestion pipelines to detect, extract, and import pass data across Gmail, Photos, Chrome, and Android into Google Wallet spanning boarding passes, event tickets, loyalty programs, transit, IDs, and receipts.
  • Develop multimodal extraction engines, leveraging on-device ML models on Android, Gemini/LLM-based parsers in Gmail, and dedicated PDF document extraction alongside Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and barcode processing.
  • Drive integration quality, performance, and reliability across Google Play services modules, back-end services, and client frameworks, ensuring high precision and low latency for pass detection.
  • Participate actively in technical designs and code reviews, fostering engineering excellence and robust testing standards across the team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, UX, and partner intelligence teams across Google to define requirements, integrate multimodal capabilities, and deliver seamless user journeys.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Java).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in machine learning and AI evaluations.
  • Experience in backend systems and data processing.
