About this job

Build a professional advisory practice

Are you considering a second source of income, a career transition, or a flexible opportunity to develop valuable client-advisory and business-development skills?

Manulife Advisory Group is looking for motivated individuals to join us as Financial Services Consultants. This opportunity is suitable for working professionals, mid-career switchers, entrepreneurs, self-employed professionals, fresh graduates, and sales professionals who are open to developing a professional practice in financial services.

You do not need prior experience in financial advisory. We provide structured training, professional coaching, examination-fee sponsorship, practical field guidance, and business-development support to help you build your knowledge, confidence, and advisory capability.

This is a self-employed, performance-based opportunity. There is no fixed working schedule, which may make it suitable for individuals exploring Financial Advisory alongside existing professional, business, family, or personal commitments. Candidates must nevertheless be able to meet the required training, examination, regulatory, compliance, client-service, and professional-conduct obligations.

What you will do

As a Financial Services Consultant, you will progressively develop the capability to:

  • Engage individuals and families in conversations about financial priorities, protection, savings, retirement, and longer-term financial planning.

  • Build professional relationships through networking, referrals, digital outreach, and other approved business-development activities.

  • Understand clients’ needs, objectives, and financial circumstances through appropriate fact-finding and client engagement.

  • Work with experienced advisers and team leaders on client conversations, case progression, and practical field-based learning.

  • Develop prospecting, appointment-setting, relationship-management, and client-service skills.

  • Provide financial-advisory services only after completing the required pathway, being formally appointed by the firm, and being authorised to conduct the relevant activities.

  • Maintain high standards of integrity, confidentiality, documentation, client care, compliance, and ongoing professional learning.

Training and support

You will receive structured support to develop as a financial-services professional, including:

  • Comprehensive training in financial-advisory fundamentals, financial planning concepts, client engagement, prospecting, sales process, and professional conduct.

  • Sponsorship of relevant CMFAS examination fees, subject to applicable company terms and requirements.

  • Preparation support for CMFAS RES5, M8, M8A, M9, M9A, and HI examinations, depending on the scope of activities and products for which you are trained and appointed.

  • Weekly training, coaching, sales clinics, and practical role-play guidance.

  • One-to-one coaching from experienced and active producers.

  • Opportunities for joint client appointments and practical field-based learning.

  • Guidance in lead generation, appointment setting, referral development, client engagement, and case progression.

  • Company-generated sales leads to support advisory activity.

  • Digital-marketing and social-media lead-generation support.

  • Referral-system support to help develop a sustainable client pipeline.

  • Appointment-setting assistance through telemarketing support.

  • A professional, performance-driven, and supportive team environment at Manulife Tower.

Regulatory appointment pathway

Financial Advisory is a regulated profession in Singapore. Candidates will complete the necessary training, assessment, and appointment process before conducting regulated financial-advisory activities.

The expected development and qualification pathway is approximately one to two months, depending on the candidate’s progress and successful completion of applicable requirements.

Successful candidates must:

  • Be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.

  • Be at least 21 years old.

  • Meet the applicable minimum academic qualification requirements: GCE 'A' Level Certificate: A full certificate containing passes in at least three 'Higher 2' (H2) and two 'Higher 1' (H1) subjects; Polytechnic Diploma: A diploma awarded by any polytechnic in Singapore; or University Degree or Higher: A bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualification in any discipline

  • Complete the relevant CMFAS examinations applicable to the financial-advisory activities and products for which they are trained and appointed.

  • Satisfy fit-and-proper checks and all relevant onboarding requirements.

  • Be formally appointed by Manulife (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. before conducting regulated financial-advisory activities.

  • Comply with ongoing training, continuing professional development, supervision, compliance, and professional-conduct requirements.

Under Singapore’s regulatory framework, individuals provide regulated financial-advisory services as appointed representatives of a licensed or exempt financial adviser. Passing examinations alone does not authorise an individual to conduct such activities; appointment and applicable regulatory requirements must also be satisfied. The Financial Advisers Act and MAS Notice FAA-N26 set the relevant regulatory and competency framework for representatives.

Remuneration and suitability

This is a self-employed, performance-based opportunity and is not salaried employment.

  • A monthly allowance may be provided, subject to sales-validation requirements.

  • The monthly allowance is validated against sales commissions and incentives on a dollar-to-dollar matching basis.

  • Earnings depend on individual performance, client needs, completed business, compliance with applicable requirements, and the relevant remuneration terms.

  • There is no guaranteed income, fixed monthly salary, or guaranteed business outcome.

  • Candidates should be comfortable with a variable-income, results-oriented, and self-directed business-development environment.

This opportunity may suit individuals who are:

  • Interested in building a second or additional source of income through a professional advisory practice.

  • Comfortable meeting people, starting conversations, building trust, and developing relationships over time.

  • Willing to learn prospecting, referral development, client engagement, and financial-planning concepts.

  • Self-motivated, disciplined, coachable, and prepared to work towards measurable outcomes.

  • Able to manage their own schedule responsibly while fulfilling training, compliance, client-service, and professional requirements.

  • Looking to build transferable capabilities in relationship management, client advisory, entrepreneurship, business development, and financial services.
