VR Training Software Developer (Contract)

Position Overview:

The VR Software Developer will design, develop and support immersive VR training applications that simulate realistic workplace and safety scenarios. The role involves creating interactive VR environments, scenario logic, assessments and performance reporting, while ensuring a user-friendly and reliable experience across supported VR devices.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test and deploy end-to-end VR training software.
• Translate workplace scenarios into realistic, interactive VR simulations.
• Create VR environment including user interface, scenario logic, hazard-identification tasks and consequence-based simulations.
• Develop pre-training tutorials, as well as post-training evaluations and scoring reports.
• Integrate audio and visual effects into the VR application.
• Optimize the application for easy usability, user comfort and compatibility with supported VR devices.
• Secure the source code and maintain technical documentation and training records.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot software or VR equipment issues during training.

Qualifications &Experience:

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, Interactive Media, Immersive Technology or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in VR, AR, game or interactive application development.
• Hands-on experience developing VR applications using Unity, Unreal Engine or an equivalent platform.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages such as C#, C++ or equivalent.
• Experience with VR development frameworks and standards such as OpenXR, Meta XR SDK, SteamVR or equivalent.
• Ability to independently develop a VR application from initial concept through testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Experience in developing training simulations or industrial VR applications would be advantageous.
