Assistant Professor in Psychology

The School of Social Sciences at NTU Singapore invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Psychology.

We seek to appoint an outstanding and collegial scholar-practitioner who will contribute principally to the Master of Science in Psychology (MScP) programme. We are especially interested in candidates whose research and professional expertise lies at the intersection of community health psychology, forensic psychology, clinical psychology, and/or criminal justice.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a high-quality programme of research, publish in leading disciplinary or interdisciplinary outlets, and contribute to the wider research environment of the Psychology Programme and School of Social Sciences.

The appointee’s teaching responsibilities will be primarily within the MScP programme. These responsibilities may include developing course content and assessments; delivering lectures, seminars, and other learning activities; supervising and advising programme students; providing student consultation and pastoral support; and undertaking assessment and marking duties. The appointee may also be asked to contribute to other teaching needs within the Psychology Programme.

A significant component of the appointee’s service responsibilities will involve coordinating the MScP practicum. This will include supporting the development and administration of clinical and professional placements; cultivating relationships with placement providers and external partners; helping to ensure the quality and suitability of placement experiences and supervision; supporting students and supervisors during placements; and contributing to practicum governance, evaluation, and quality assurance. Experience managing or coordinating clinical or professional practica, internships, placements, or comparable forms of supervised professional training is therefore strongly desired.

• A PhD, DPhil, or equivalent doctorate-level qualification in Psychology or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated research expertise in one or more areas of psychology relevant to the position.
• A strong record of research and scholarly publication commensurate with career stage, together with the potential to develop an internationally recognised programme of research.
• Experience and/or a strong interest in teaching postgraduate psychology students, with a demonstrable commitment to high-quality teaching and professional training.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills relevant to teaching, student supervision, pastoral care, and engagement with external partners.
• Willingness and ability to contribute to the overall objectives of the MScP programme, Psychology Programme, and School of Social Sciences, working collaboratively with academic, administrative, and professional colleagues.
• Experience managing or coordinating clinical or professional practica, internships, placements, or other forms of supervised professional training. This may include developing placement partnerships, matching and supporting students, liaising with onsite supervisors, monitoring placement quality and student progress, and contributing to practicum governance and quality assurance.
• Professional or clinical practice experience relevant to community health psychology, forensic psychology, clinical psychology, or criminal justice. This may include experience in expert assessment, offender rehabilitation, investigative interviewing, criminal justice policy, or other applied work in forensic, correctional, clinical, or related settings.
• Professional registration, licensure, board certification, or eligibility for registration as a psychologist. SRP-approved supervisor status or eligibility is also highly desirable.
• Experience supervising students, trainees, or early-career practitioners in clinical, professional, or other applied settings.
• Evidence of the capacity to attract research funding and develop collaborative or interdisciplinary research.
• Evidence of national or international professional standing, such as fellowship or active involvement in relevant professional bodies, invited leadership roles, editorial or reviewing activities, or recognised external impact.
