Roles & Responsibilities
Role Purpose
To assist the Project Manager (PM) and Assistant Project Manager (APM) in technical coordination, engineering problem-solving, progress scheduling, subcontractor procurement, and site technical execution to ensure the project meets time, cost, quality, and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Coordination & Engineering
Review, understand, and translate technical specifications, contractual documents, facade shop drawings, and structural calculations into executable site works.
Coordinate closely with the internal Design/Technical Department to clarify Site Technical Queries (RFIs) and resolve design or site installation discrepancies.
Coordinate mock-up fabrications, testing procedures (e.g., water tightness, air infiltration), and material sample submissions for consultant approvals.
2. Time & Progress Planning
Assist the PM/APM in developing, updating, and monitoring the master construction program, micro-schedules, and daily/weekly work targets.
Track installation progress against target baselines, highlight potential delays, and propose technical workarounds or recovery strategies.
Collaborate with the Main Contractor’s and other trade sub-contractors' engineering teams for site interfaces and access availability.
3. Procurement & Cost Support
Assist the PM/APM in evaluating subcontractor quotations, material take-offs, and quantity verifications.
Support the Quantity Surveyor (QS) in verifying completed works for monthly progress claims, variation orders (VOs), and material submittals.
Monitor site material delivery schedules and track material consumption to avoid shortages or cost overruns.
4. Quality Control & Site Coordination
Work with the QA/QC team to coordinate inspection schedules with consultants and main contractors (aiming for high CONQUAS / Quality Mark scores).
Investigate on-site technical or installation issues and propose engineering solutions to the PM/APM.
Prepare method statements, inspection and test plans (ITP), and material submittal packages.
5. Safety & Site Support
Support the PM/APM in formulating Risk Assessments (RA) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP) for complex installation procedures.
Attend site progress meetings, technical coordination meetings, and prepare meeting minutes or action logs.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Technology.
Experience: 2–4 years of experience as a Site/Project Engineer in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on facade engineering, curtain walls, or structural glazing.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in AutoCAD and reading architectural, structural, and facade construction drawings.
Familiarity with local building codes, QA/QC standards (CONQUAS / Quality Mark), and facade testing requirements.
Basic proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and MS Office suite.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, proactive problem-solving, good written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
