Role Overview
Primary function is to inspect and report on vessels and other marine structures during and after construction to ensure compliance with applicable classification requirements, statutory regulations, and special service standards. This includes requirements related to Safety of Life at Sea, Load Line, Tonnage, Cargo Gear, and Pollution Prevention certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine surveys of classed vessels, marine structures, and manufacturers to verify compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
- Provide quotations and technical consultation for classification, inspection, and audit services and fees.
- Prepare accurate, comprehensive, and timely reports following inspections and audits.
- Liaise with clients to address technical issues and resolve matters within the scope of expertise.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate various surveying activities while monitoring the quality and effectiveness of services provided.
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, and training to junior or lower-level personnel.
- Promote the organisation’s services and technical capabilities to existing and prospective clients.
- Coordinate with the relevant headquarters or internal teams to address client requirements when necessary.
- LNG surveying, newbuilding, and seagoing LNG vessel experience is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in marine surveying, ship classification, vessel inspection, or statutory compliance.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Technology, or a related maritime discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in marine surveying, ship classification, vessel inspection, or statutory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of classification rules and statutory requirements, including SOLAS, Load Line, Tonnage, Cargo Gear, and MARPOL/Pollution Prevention.
- Proven experience conducting class, statutory, and compliance surveys and preparing accurate technical reports.
- Strong technical, communication, client-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate surveying activities and guide junior personnel.
- LNG surveying, newbuilding, or seagoing LNG vessel experience is preferred.
- Relevant marine surveyor or classification certifications would be an advantage.
