The Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Coordinator reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with the Head of Operations & Head of ROV Management to support the company's operational safety objectives. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that all operational activities are carried out safely and in compliance with company policies, statutory regulations and customer requirements. The WSH Coordinator shall promote a proactive safety culture through regular workplace inspections, operational support, incident investigations, audits, employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires a disciplined, organised and proactive individual with strong communication skills and the ability to positively influence safe behaviours across all levels of the organisation.

Authority

  • Has the authority to stop any work activity where there is an immediate danger to personnel, company assets, customer assets or the environment.
  • Has the authority to recommend corrective actions before operations are permitted to continue.
  • May recommend revisions to Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and safety processes where improvements are identified.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a positive workplace safety culture throughout the organisation.
  • Conduct routine workplace safety inspections at operational sites, workboats, vessels, offices and workshops.
  • Carry out operational safety observations during ROV operations, underwater inspection and hull cleaning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Risk Assessments (RA) and statutory Workplace Safety & Health requirements.
  • Verify the proper use and condition of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings and safety awareness programmes.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures and safety documentation.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain records of incidents, inspections, corrective actions and safety observations.
  • Monitor and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
  • Conduct internal workplace safety inspections and support internal and external HSEQ audits.
  • Assist in maintaining ISO management system documentation and support certification audits.
  • Monitor employee safety training and certification validity, including mandatory statutory certifications.
  • Coordinate safety induction programmes for new employees and contractors.
  • Ensure emergency response equipment, first aid kits, fire extinguishers and safety equipment are properly maintained and inspected.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of company vehicles, workboats, lifting equipment and emergency equipment.
  • Liaise with operational teams to ensure safe execution of work activities.
  • Promote the reporting of hazards, unsafe conditions and near misses.
  • Assist Management with safety initiatives, campaigns and continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Management relating to workplace safety and operational compliance.

Educational Requirements & Professional Background

  • Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health, Engineering, Marine Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a recognised Workplace Safety & Health Coordinator qualification.
  • Previous experience in workplace safety, maritime, offshore, logistics or industrial operations would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Singapore Workplace Safety & Health legislation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures and incident investigations.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Internal Training Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of C-Leanship's operational activities and company procedures.
  • Familiarisation with ROV operations, underwater inspection and hull cleaning activities.
  • Company Risk Assessment and Safe Work Procedure training.
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis training.
  • Internal safety audit awareness.
  • Emergency response and first aid awareness.
  • Continuous participation in company safety programmes and refresher training.
  • Operational site familiarisation through regular participation in field activities.
