About this job

What you'll do:

As Country Head Corporate Banking based in Singapore, you will be entrusted with establishing a new Representative Office that serves as a hub for institutional relationship development across Asia-Pacific. Your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around building strong connections with corporate clients and financial institutions while identifying emerging business opportunities in areas such as foreign trade and structured finance. You will act as a trusted liaison for companies navigating cross-border interests between Asia and Latin America.

  • Establish and nurture institutional relationships with corporate clients, financial institutions, investors, industry associations, public-sector bodies, and other strategic stakeholders across Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region through considerate engagement.
  • Identify international business opportunities in foreign trade, structured finance, capital markets, and global financial solutions for referral to authorised units outside Singapore by sharing relevant market information.
  • Support companies from Brazil with interests in Asia as well as Asian companies looking towards Brazil or Latin America by acting as an empathetic institutional liaison within the permitted scope of the Representative Office.
  • Promote awareness of the organisation’s capabilities, products, and services at an informational level without conducting solicitation or revenue-generating activities locally.
  • Monitor economic developments, regulatory changes, sectoral shifts, and market trends in Singapore and APAC; prepare detailed market analyses and feasibility notes to support internal decision-making processes.
  • Identify strategic developments related to trade flows, investment flows, commodities activity, treasury-centre operations, financial markets evolution, fintech advancements, and digital trade for internal assessment by authorised units.
  • Refer business opportunities or institutional contacts to duly authorised units for independent evaluation outside Singapore while maintaining clear boundaries regarding local execution.
  • Coordinate between interested parties and internal business units responsible for analysis or structuring of transactions outside Singapore; follow up on referred matters from an informational perspective only.
  • Represent the organisation institutionally before authorities, market associations, multilateral organisations, and other regional stakeholders within the permitted scope of a representative office.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements governing representative offices in Singapore by maintaining disciplined reporting routines with internal stakeholders.

What you bring:

To excel as Country Head Corporate Banking in Singapore’s Representative Office setting you will bring proven experience managing international relationships across diverse geographies. Your academic background should include economics or finance complemented by postgraduate qualifications that reflect your commitment to ongoing professional development. You have demonstrated success navigating complex corporate banking environments where cross-border trade flows are central. Your familiarity with both Asian markets and Latin American business contexts allows you to foster meaningful connections among stakeholders. You possess technical expertise spanning foreign trade mechanisms through capital markets structures which informs your ability to produce high-quality market intelligence reports. Operating within regulated frameworks comes naturally to you; you understand how to maintain compliance without compromising on relationship-building or information-sharing objectives. Your interpersonal skills are matched by your capacity for executive communication—enabling you to represent the organisation confidently at institutional events while maintaining high standards of integrity.

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, International Relations or a related field is required to demonstrate foundational knowledge relevant to this role.
  • Postgraduate degree such as an MBA or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable for advanced expertise.
  • Experience in international business environments including corporate relationship management or corporate banking is essential for understanding cross-border dynamics.
  • Proven track record in financial markets operations or trade finance activities will be considered an advantage when supporting complex business flows.
  • Familiarity with Asian markets or Latin America-related business flows enhances your ability to connect diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to operate within regulated environments while distinguishing clearly between representative-office activities and transactional banking functions is crucial for compliance.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin or other relevant regional languages is advantageous to deal with the respective stakeholders based in those locations.
  • Technical knowledge of foreign trade concepts including trade finance mechanisms supports your analytical capabilities.
  • Understanding capital markets structures along with structured finance principles enables you to identify relevant opportunities for referral.
  • Awareness of financial regulatory environments combined with knowledge of representative-office limitations ensures disciplined governance.
