Renovation Site Manager

About the role

Lionbuild Contractors LLP is a renovation contractor seeking a Renovation Site Manager to oversee renovation works and manage day-to-day workforce arrangements.

This combined role involves supervising site activities, providing hands-on technical guidance, organising manpower and work schedules, and supporting effective communication between Bangladeshi workers and company management. The successful candidate will also carry out on-site renovation work when required.

Key responsibilities

Site supervision and hands-on renovation work

• Supervise daily renovation activities to meet project specifications, workmanship standards and schedules.

• Demonstrate proper work methods and guide workers in using tools, materials and equipment safely.

• Carry out hands-on renovation work when required, within the employee’s skills, competence and applicable safety requirements.

• Read basic renovation drawings, take site measurements and check work against approved layouts.

• Coordinate work sequences and site arrangements with management, workers and subcontractors.

• Monitor work progress, identify workmanship defects and carry out or supervise rectification.

• Coordinate material and tool requirements to support planned work.

• Reinforce site safety and housekeeping requirements, and promptly report unsafe conditions and incidents.

Workforce management and communication

• Plan work rosters, daily assignments and manpower deployment across renovation projects.

• Track attendance, leave arrangements and manpower needs, maintaining accurate records.

• Communicate work instructions, schedule changes, company procedures and employment-related information clearly, checking workers’ understanding.

• Serve as a point of contact for workers’ questions, concerns and grievances, resolving routine matters and escalating issues where necessary.

• Support worker onboarding and explain workplace expectations, reporting channels and site arrangements.

• Coordinate employment-related documentation, including explaining relevant information and obtaining and recording workers’ written consent where required.

• Address routine workforce coordination issues and support respectful working relationships.

• Keep management informed of manpower shortages, scheduling conflicts, worker welfare concerns and unresolved matters.

Requirements

• Speaks Bengali language and English to communicate effectively with Bangladeshi workers.

• Relevant experience in renovation works and supervising or managing a construction workforce.

• Practical competence in one or more of the following renovation trades:

  • Tiling: Surface preparation, laying floor and wall tiles, grouting and repairs.

  • Plastering: Wall patching, skim coating and surface finishing.

  • Painting: Surface preparation, primer application, painting and touch-ups.

  • Drywall partitions and ceilings: Framing, plasterboard installation and joint finishing.

  • Carpentry installation: Installing cabinets, doors, shelving, skirting and fittings.

  • Waterproofing: Wet-area surface preparation and waterproofing application.

• Ability to demonstrate practical work techniques and guide workers to achieve the required workmanship.

• Ability to interpret basic renovation drawings, take accurate measurements and plan site activities.

• Ability to prepare work schedules, coordinate manpower and maintain accurate workforce records.

• Good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to handle workers’ concerns professionally and confidentially.

• Familiarity with construction site safety practices and the safe use of relevant tools and equipment.

• Basic ability to use spreadsheets and messaging tools for scheduling, record-keeping and progress updates.
