Our Client:
Our client is a leading organisation within the Life Insurance industry and is seeking an AML & Due Diligence Manager to oversee and support the onboarding and ongoing due diligence of business partners and relevant counterparties. The role will be responsible for ensuring that AML/KYC and due diligence requirements are properly assessed and completed throughout the relationship lifecycle, from initial onboarding through periodic reviews and ongoing monitoring. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and regional compliance teams to ensure that activities are conducted in accordance with Group policies, AML/CFT requirements and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the onboarding and due diligence process for new business partners, including insurance companies, banks, referral partners and other relevant counterparties.
- Conduct KYC and AML assessments, reviewing corporate structures, ownership information, beneficial owners, business activities and supporting documentation.
- Perform Customer/Business Partner Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for higher-risk relationships where required.
- Conduct sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening, including World-Check or other recognised screening platforms.
- Assess identified risks and potential red flags, ensuring appropriate escalation and remediation in line with internal AML policies and risk appetite.
- Manage periodic and trigger-based reviews of existing business partners, ensuring KYC information remains accurate, current and appropriately documented.
- Monitor changes to business partner ownership, management, activities, regulatory status and other risk factors that may require further review.
- Maintain comprehensive and audit-ready AML/KYC and due diligence records, ensuring documentation meets internal governance and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Business and Operations teams to resolve onboarding issues and facilitate timely completion of due diligence requirements.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on AML/KYC requirements, due diligence standards and risk-based onboarding procedures.
- Support the review and enhancement of AML/KYC policies, procedures, controls and due diligence workflows.
- Assist with regulatory inspections, internal audits, compliance reviews and information requests, providing relevant due diligence records and supporting documentation.
- Keep abreast of developments in MAS regulations, AML/CFT requirements, sanctions regimes and industry best practices, and assess their impact on the organisation's due diligence framework.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Law, Compliance, Risk Management or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in AML, KYC, due diligence, financial crime compliance or regulatory compliance.
- Prior experience within the life insurance or broader insurance industry is highly preferred.
- Strong practical knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC, CDD, EDD, sanctions and PEP screening.
- Experience managing corporate/business partner onboarding and due diligence.
- Familiarity with World-Check or similar AML/sanctions screening databases.
- Good understanding of MAS regulatory expectations relating to AML/CFT and financial services.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risk indicators, inconsistencies and potential financial crime concerns.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and documentation skills.
- Able to manage multiple onboarding and review cases while meeting established deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage business teams and senior stakeholders on compliance requirements.
- CAMS, ICA or other AML/compliance qualifications would be advantageous.
