Alteration Tailor / Seamstress

WAS Singapore is looking for an experienced Alteration Tailor / Seamstress to support our tailoring team with minor alterations and adjustments for suits, dresses and other garments.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform alterations for men's suits, jackets, trousers, shirts and ladies' dresses

• Adjust trouser waist, length and tapering

• Shorten and adjust jacket, shirt and dress sleeves

• Carry out minor fitting adjustments based on alteration markings and measurements

• Replace or repair buttons, hooks, zips and other garment components

• Perform minor sewing repairs and finishing work

• Check completed garments for proper fit, stitching and workmanship

• Ensure alterations are completed accurately and within the required timeline

• Handle customers' garments carefully and maintain a clean working environment

• Work closely with our sales and tailoring team on alteration requirements

Requirements

• Experience in garment alteration, sewing or tailoring

• Able to operate industrial or domestic sewing machines confidently

• Experience altering suits, jackets, trousers and/or dresses is preferred

• Experience with suit jacket alterations will be an advantage

• Good understanding of garment construction and fitting

• Good attention to detail and workmanship

• Responsible and able to complete work within deadlines

• Able to work independently

Working arrangements can be discussed based on experience and availability.

About the Role

This role is mainly focused on minor alterations, fitting adjustments and finishing work. You will not normally be required to construct a complete suit or dress from scratch.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and can help ensure every WAS garment is properly fitted and ready before it is handed over to our customer.
