We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Head of Legal for our client in the logistics sector. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Legal will provide strategic legal counsel and oversee the full lifecycle of commercial and logistics-related contracts, from negotiation through execution and compliance. Working closely with senior internal stakeholders across procurement, operations, and finance, the role will balance commercial objectives with legal risk management while serving as the primary legal interface with customers, suppliers, and external advisors. Regular travel will be required for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the negotiation, drafting, and execution of complex commercial, logistics, procurement, transportation, warehousing, 3PL, and EPC/project cargo agreements, ensuring commercial objectives are balanced with legal risk.
- Oversee the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including governance, compliance, renewals, amendments, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partner closely with commercial, operations, procurement, finance, and project teams to structure transactions, mitigate contractual risks, and support successful project delivery.
- Advise on contractual claims, regulatory matters, cross-border legal issues, and dispute resolution, while managing external legal counsel and ensuring cost-effective outcomes.
- Develop and strengthen contract governance frameworks, legal policies, templates, and approval processes to drive consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Support the Board and senior leadership on corporate governance, strategic transactions, M&A, regulatory compliance, and enterprise-wide legal risk management.
- Serve as the trusted legal advisor to the CEO and executive leadership, providing commercially focused legal counsel across the Group's operations and strategic initiatives.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (A Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution is preferred.)
- 10+ years of experience in contract management, ideally within the logistics, supply chain, or transportation sector (with background in procurement would be added advantage)
- Experience negotiating, drafting, and managing logistics-related contracts (e.g., transportation agreements, warehousing contracts, 3PL agreements).
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, terminology, and industry regulations (e.g., Incoterms, freight agreements).
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in contract review and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
