Financial Controller/CFO

Salling Search is currently recruiting for a Financial Controller/CFO for an established commodities trading firm with commercial operations spanning Singapore, Dubai, and the USA.

This is a broad and hands-on leadership role overseeing the full finance function across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is technically strong, commercially astute, and comfortable operating as the finance lead in a dynamic trading environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all financial reporting, accounting, and taxation functions, including statutory and management reporting, governance, compliance, and transaction processing across all business divisions
• Manage commercial financial interfaces including Letters of Credit and credit line management with third parties and banking partners
• Conduct monthly review of financial reports, identifying key findings and presenting them to senior management
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial reporting accuracy and mitigate risk
• Regularly review and enhance internal control procedures to adapt to evolving business needs
• Supervise treasury operations including cash flow forecasting, record maintenance, reconciliation, and reporting
• Manage all external audit processes and taxation matters across relevant jurisdictions
• Coordinate MPA (AIS) audit reviews and serve as primary liaison for scheme-related matters
• Manage all payment processes across departments and coordinate with internal stakeholders
• Oversee office payroll, staff accounting, annual leave, and attendance management
• Manage all Corporate Secretarial responsibilities
• Maintain and develop banking relationships including credit lines and third-party financial service providers
• Manage and negotiate contracts with third-party vendors and service providers, including renewals and pricing
• Work within the company's Xero-based finance platform and contribute to ongoing process and systems improvement

Requirements

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred
• Minimum 8 to 12 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or FC-level role
• Experience in a commodities trading, shipping, or maritime environment strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of Letters of Credit, trade finance, and credit line management
• Exposure to multi-jurisdiction financial operations (Singapore, UAE, or USA experience advantageous)
• Hands-on experience with Xero; familiarity with other ERP or shipping management systems is a plus
• Strong knowledge of Singapore tax, regulatory, and compliance requirements
• Experience managing external audits, MPA or AIS-related matters is an advantage
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present financial insights clearly to senior management
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced trading environment
