Safety Officer
About this job
The Safety officer shall support the Project Team in implementing and maintaining Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) standards across project sites. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with the WSH Act, WSH (Construction) Regulations, client EHS requirements, and company policies, while fostering a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and conditions.
Ensure compliance with the WSH Act, WSH (Construction) Regulations, company policies, and Main Contractor/client EHS requirements.
Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with approved Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements.
Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and new worker safety orientation.
Carry out regular inspections of housekeeping, access/egress, work at height, scaffold usage, lifting activities, hot works, and use of PPE.
Participate in joint site inspections, safety walks, audits, and coordination meetings with the Main Contractor and client.
Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and follow up on corrective actions.
Maintain WSH records, inspection reports, training records, and statutory documentation.
Promote a positive safety culture and advise supervisors and workers on safe work practices.
Perform any other WSH-related duties assigned by Management.
Requirements
Diploma, Higher NITEC, or equivalent qualification.
WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B) or equivalent recognised by MOM.
Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), or eligible for registration.
Minimum 2–3 years' experience in construction, preferably in M&E projects.
Familiar with the WSH Act, WSH (Construction) Regulations, and Permit-to-Work systems.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
