Senior Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) Engineer – Infrastructure Automation / SRE

We are seeking an experienced Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) Engineer to design, implement, operate, and enhance enterprise-scale infrastructure automation solutions.

The successful candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and enterprise infrastructure/platform engineering, including AAP implementation, platform administration, automation development, CI/CD integration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and production operational support.

This role requires an engineer who has worked hands-on with enterprise automation platforms rather than only using Ansible as a configuration-management tool.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, operate, and enhance Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) for enterprise infrastructure automation.
• Support the architecture, deployment, administration, upgrades, patching, testing, troubleshooting, and operational readiness of AAP environments.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain Ansible Playbooks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, patching, remediation, and operational automation.
• Develop and maintain reusable Ansible Roles, Collections, and Inventories based on enterprise automation standards.
• Configure and manage AAP components including Projects, Inventories, Credentials, Job Templates, Workflows, and Execution Environments.
• Design scalable and highly available automation-platform solutions suitable for enterprise production environments.
• Develop automated operational workflows and runbooks to reduce manual intervention and improve platform reliability.
• Integrate Ansible/AAP with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines for controlled, repeatable, and auditable automation deployments.
• Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Support automation-platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, validation, troubleshooting, performance improvement, and platform governance.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud, Application, Cyber Security, SRE, and vendor teams to identify and deliver automation opportunities.
• Drive platform onboarding and support engineering teams in adopting enterprise automation standards and best practices.
• Maintain technical documentation, architecture standards, SOPs, operational procedures, and runbooks.
• Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to improve availability, resilience, operational efficiency, and reduce repetitive manual work.

Required Skills & Experience

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience implementing, administering, or supporting Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) in an enterprise environment.
• Strong hands-on experience developing Ansible Playbooks and infrastructure automation solutions.
• Experience with Ansible Roles, Collections, Inventories, Job Templates, Workflows, and Execution Environments.
• Experience supporting the AAP platform lifecycle, including deployment, upgrades, troubleshooting, testing, and operational support.
• Strong understanding of Linux infrastructure and enterprise platform engineering.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines for automation-code management and deployment.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and preferably Terraform.
• Good understanding of SRE, high availability, production reliability, incident management, and operational automation.
• Experience collaborating with application, infrastructure, cloud, security, and external technology/vendor teams.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Advantageous Skills

• Experience designing or supporting high-availability Ansible Automation Platform environments.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or other enterprise cloud platforms.
• Experience with Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift.
• Python and Shell/Bash scripting experience.
• Experience supporting large-scale banking, financial services, government, or other regulated enterprise environments.
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation or RHCE.
• Terraform certification.
• Site Reliability Engineering certification.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
