Job Summary

The Bharatanatyam Tutor is responsible for delivering high-quality Bharatanatyam instruction in accordance with the SIFAS curriculum. The tutor will guide students of various age groups and proficiency levels, fostering artistic excellence, discipline, and a deep appreciation for Indian classical dance traditions.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Instruction

  • Conduct Bharatanatyam classes for students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Plan and deliver lessons according to the SIFAS curriculum and examination requirements.
  • Prepare students for practical examinations, performances, workshops, and competitions.
  • Monitor and assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain attendance records and submit student assessments within stipulated timelines.

Curriculum and Artistic Development

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of teaching materials and curriculum content.
  • Choreograph and rehearse dance items for annual productions, festivals, and institutional events.
  • Encourage students' artistic growth and stage confidence.

Student and Parent Engagement

  • Maintain effective communication with students and parents regarding progress, attendance, and performance expectations.
  • Support student retention and encourage participation in SIFAS activities.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Submit reports, examination marks, lesson plans, and other required documentation promptly.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, tutor meetings, and training sessions.
  • Adhere to SIFAS policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters, Degree qualification in Bharatanatyam from Kalakshetra.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in Bharatanatyam.
  • Strong knowledge of Bharatanatyam theory, practical techniques, repertoire, and performance traditions.
  • Experience preparing students for examinations and stage performances.
  • Ability to teach students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
