Principal Engineer (Power Solutions)

Choon Huat Engineering is a leading provider of power solutions for construction and industrial

applications, with decades of experience in generator systems, power distribution, and most recently,

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). We serve clients across Singapore and the region, delivering

reliable equipment and technical excellence.

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to strengthen our engineering capabilities, drive product

development, and support our transition into innovative, sustainable power solutions.

Role Overview

As the Principal Engineer, you will:

• Oversee the technical performance of our existing product portfolio (generators, BESS, power cables, and distribution boards).
• Provide leadership and guidance to engineers and technicians.
• Evaluate and recommend product improvements for reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Explore and assess new product opportunities in power solutions.
• Act as a bridge between management, engineering teams, and external partners/vendors.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with strong technical grounding and a passion for advancing energy technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Product Oversight & Development

• Monitor performance of existing products and recommend enhancements.
• Conduct technical reviews, testing, and validation of new designs.
• Lead feasibility studies for new product lines in power solutions.

Team Leadership

• Mentor and guide engineers/technicians, fostering a culture of learning and improvement.
• Ensure engineering work meets safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated with latest industry trends in diesel generators, hybrid power, and BESS.
• Propose and pilot new technologies that align with Choon Huat’s growth strategy.
• Work with suppliers and partners to evaluate new products or components.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Support sales and BD teams with technical input during client discussions.
• Provide training and knowledge-sharing across teams.
• Liaise with external vendors and certification bodies when required.

Requirements

• Degree/Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or related field).
• At least 5–7 years of experience in power solutions (generators, BESS, distribution systems).
• Strong technical knowledge of power generation, storage, and distribution systems.
• Proven leadership experience guiding engineering teams.
• Practical, hands-on problem solver with ability to balance theory and field realities.
• Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards in Singapore is a plus.
