E&I Engineer

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical and instrumentation systems across the site. This role involves close coordination with cross-functional teams and contractors to ensure minimal downtime, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability of critical utilities and process equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems, including switchgear, motor control centres (MCC), variable speed drives (VSDs), PLCs, and field instrumentation (transmitters, sensors, control valves)
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and instrumentation faults to minimize equipment downtime and support production continuity
• Support calibration, testing, and qualification of instrumentation equipment in accordance with GMP requirements
• Review and maintain electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and equipment documentation
• Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities (IQ/OQ) for new or modified electrical and instrumentation systems
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for equipment servicing, upgrades, and breakdown support
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical safety standards, statutory inspections, and site EHS requirements
• Participate in root cause analysis and investigations for electrical/instrumentation-related deviations and incidents
• Support change control, CAPA, and continuous improvement initiatives related to electrical and instrumentation systems
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history in the site CMMS
• Participate in on-call/standby support as required to ensure site operational continuity

REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, ideally within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
• Strong working knowledge of electrical systems (LV/MV distribution, MCC, VSDs) and instrumentation (PLCs, DCS, field instruments)
• Familiarity with GMP documentation practices and equipment qualification (IQ/OQ) processes
• Knowledge of relevant electrical safety codes and statutory compliance requirements in Singapore
• Experience with CMMS systems (e.g. SAP, Maximo) is an advantage
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external contractors
• Willingness to participate in shift coverage or on-call support as required
