CENTRE COOK CUM CLEANER

Key Responsibilities

A. Food Preparation & Kitchen Duties

• Prepare and cook daily meals, snacks, and beverages for children according to the centre’s approved menu and schedule.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, age-appropriate, properly portioned, and prepared in a hygienic manner.
• Take note of children with food allergies, dietary restrictions, religious requirements, or special dietary needs and ensure that the correct meals are prepared and served.
• Ensure there is no cross-contamination between food items, particularly for children with allergies.
• Wash, cut, prepare, cook, and portion ingredients appropriately.
• Ensure meals and snacks are ready and served according to the centre’s daily timetable.
• Maintain proper food storage and ensure raw and cooked food are stored separately where required.
• Check expiry dates and the condition of food ingredients regularly.
• Practise proper stock rotation, including First-In, First-Out (FIFO).
• Monitor kitchen supplies and inform the Centre Leader/Principal when ingredients or supplies need replenishment.
• Do up the grocery order list bi weekly / monthly.
• Receive and check food and grocery deliveries when required.
• Maintain cleanliness of the refrigerator, freezer, cooking equipment, utensils, sinks, countertops, cupboards, and other kitchen areas.
• Wash and sanitise cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, containers, and kitchen equipment after use.
• Dispose of food waste appropriately and keep waste bins clean and covered.
• Follow all applicable food hygiene, food safety, and centre procedures.

B. Cleaning & Housekeeping Duties

• Carry out daily cleaning and sanitisation of the centre.
• Sweep, vacuum, and mop classrooms, common areas, corridors, offices, and other designated areas.
• Clean and disinfect tables, chairs, shelves, door handles, frequently touched surfaces, and other furniture/equipment.
• Clean and sanitise children's toilets, adult toilets, sinks, and wash areas.
• Ensure toilet areas are regularly checked and kept clean, dry, hygienic, and adequately supplied.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitising sleeping areas, mattresses, cots, and other equipment where applicable.
• Clean windows, glass panels, doors, and other areas according to the centre's cleaning schedule.
• Empty rubbish bins regularly and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Carry out scheduled deep cleaning and sanitisation as directed by the Centre Leader.
• Ensure cleaning chemicals and equipment are properly labelled and stored safely out of children's reach.
• Immediately clean spills or wet areas that may pose a slipping or safety hazard.
• Inform the Centre Leader promptly of any hygiene, maintenance, pest-control, equipment, or safety concerns.
• Prepare and submit the cleaning checklist monthly.

C. Hygiene, Health & Safety

• Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, including proper handwashing and appropriate attire when handling food.
• Follow the centre's infection-control and sanitisation procedures.
• Ensure food preparation areas and cleaning equipment are kept separate where necessary to prevent contamination.
• Comply with the centre's workplace safety, food hygiene, and child-safety requirements.
• Do not leave hazardous substances, hot food, sharp objects, cleaning chemicals, or equipment accessible to children.
• Cooperate with inspections, audits, and hygiene checks conducted by Management or relevant authorities.
