The Role

  • Perform high-precision dimensional calibrations using advanced measurement systems.
  • Maintain and continually enhance Singapore's national measurement standards in length and dimensional metrology, ensuring the highest levels of measurement accuracy and traceability.
  • Participate in international measurement comparisons, contributing to the global recognition and international equivalence of Singapore's measurement capabilities.
  • Develop expertise in advanced dimensional measurement technologies, including coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), optical measurement systems, surface texture instruments, laser-based measurement systems, and emerging metrology technologies.
  • Partner with industry by providing calibration, measurement, consultancy, and technical advisory services that improve manufacturing quality and measurement capability.
  • Design and deliver technical training, proficiency testing programmes, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that strengthen industry competencies.
  • Receive structured training to become a Technical Assessor under the Singapore Accreditation Council – Singapore Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (SAC-SINGLAS), supporting laboratory accreditation and developing national technical capabilities.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives by applying automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve laboratory productivity, measurement efficiency, and data quality.


The Requirement:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in precision engineering, mechanical engineering, applied physics, dimensional metrology, or a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of dimensional metrology principles, including length measurement, tolerancing, flatness, surface roughness, and basic GD&T.
  • Experience with precision measurement equipment such as coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), optical measurement systems, surface texture instruments, laser measurement systems, or similar technologies will be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex measurement systems and experimental setups.
  • Experience in automation, digitalisation, data analysis and AI applications will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive attitude and commitment to laboratory quality standards.
  • A strong desire to develop professionally and contribute to advancing Singapore's national measurement capabilities.
