Responsibilities:
- Underwrite new applications for High Net Worth Plans, ensuring sound risk assessment and consistent decision-making.
- Review, countersign, and provide technical guidance to junior underwriters to maintain quality and adherence to underwriting standards.
- Provide expert underwriting advice to financial planners through various communication channels, including e-booking platforms, emails, and calls.
- Act as a liaison between New Business Underwriting (NBU) and distribution channels, fostering strong business relationships.
- Ensure that all department KPIs and service standards, including turnaround times and quality benchmarks, are consistently met.
- Conduct underwriting training sessions for distribution channels and internal stakeholders.
- Participate in projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing underwriting guidelines and streamlining processes for improved efficiency and customer experience.
- Identify business and regulatory compliance risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, regulatory developments, and technological advancements to safeguard business interests.
- Proactively address potential risks/issues and recommend best practices for effective risk management.
- Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and leadership in all underwriting-related activities.
Requirements:
- Degree holder with more than 10 years of underwriting experience, including at least 2–3 years in High Net Worth underwriting.
- Consideration for non-degree holders with significant relevant experience and/or professional underwriting certifications.
- Strong technical expertise in Life, Accident, Critical Illness, Disability, and Health underwriting, along with sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent analytical skills to assess complex High Net Worth cases and perform effectively under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated initiative in driving improvements and adapting to change in a dynamic environment.
