Platform Operations Engineer / IT Infrastructure Engineer

· Employment Type: Contract - 12 months renewable contract
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operational support and maintenance of critical infrastructure platforms across on -premises and hybrid environments, working closely with L1 vendor engineers and internal teams.
- Provide technical oversight across compute, storage, virtualisation, operating systems, backup, disaster recovery, high availability, monitoring, logging, and related infrastructure services.
- Lead complex incident management activities, including technical investigation, root cause analysis, recovery planning, resolution tracking, and post-incident follow-up.
- Coordinate vendor activities to ensure incidents, service requests, operational tasks, and technical deliverables are completed effectively and within agreed timelines.
- Review technical changes, service requests, implementation plans, and recovery approaches to ensure they are practical, secure, supportable, and aligned with architecture and operational standards.
- Support infrastructure refresh, upgrade, migration, and modernisation initiatives while maintaining platform stability and minimising downtime.
- Track project risks, issues, dependencies, action items, readiness status, and stakeholder follow-ups across internal teams and vendors.
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, governance artefacts, operational documents, and infrastructure support documentation.
- Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, platform operations, or mission-critical production support environments.
- Strong hands-on understanding of virtualisation, operating systems, storage, backup, networking, HA, DR, monitoring, observability, logging, and alerting practices.
- Experience working in vendor-supported operating models and managing external engineering or support teams.
- Able to support technical troubleshooting, incident deep dives, problem resolution, governance reviews, change assessments, and service request approvals.
- Experience coordinating technical project delivery, including risk tracking, dependency management, issue follow-up, and stakeholder updates.
- Must have: At least 2 years of experience in government or public sector environments is required.
- Data centre operations experience isa dvantageous.
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
